Why is she more skilled with a lightsaber than Kylo Ren even though she has never even touched a lightsaber before whereas he has trained with lightsabers for years and was taught by Master Skywalker and also taught by Lord Snoke?

Make her greedy and a liar. Like, she listens to a conversation between von Sydow and Poe about a map assumes it's about pirates' gold, steals BB-8, steals the MF only to find herself captured by the Phasma unit. Finn mistakes her for a resistance fighter, she doesn't deny it, and helps her escape. Rey finds out that BB-8 has a piece of a map about Luke that is useless. Finn shows some genuine bravery and earns some good boy points in Rey's eyes. Then they fly to the rebel base to bring the droid back and earn some money.

Go back and watch a new hope and just interpret it as if you dont know anything about the other movies, you only have knowledge of ANH. It's a fucking mess. Then think about how much is revealed in the next movie and then the next after that. Force awakens is the same, we don't have the entire fucking story, nothing is wrong with Rey at all, she's a perfectly okay character. For the third at least she has shown proficiency with melee weapons before in the movie like in the scene she defeats raider dudes stealing the Droid. So she might have as much experience in fighting as Ren. For the others, no idea.
