The characters clearly tried really hard to deliver some of the trademarked "tarantino witty dialogues" but utterly failed. When they started repeating each other's shit over and over again ("Abraham Lincoln the president of the United States of America wrote you a letter" x 6) it became just cringeworthy. It sounded like a film student desperately tried to imitate Tarantino.
And NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENED for almost 3 hours.

When Mannix first arrives he isn't some crazy racist yelling at Warren. In fact, he offers both Warren and Ruth a dinner, and tries to be as pleasant as possible. Warren and Ruth are the ones who bring up the civil war and try to shit on Mannix. Mannix is a legit Nobel guy at heart, he simply got stuck on the wrong side of the civil war. Aside from Ruth and Warren, Mannix is the most trustworthy main character of the whole fucking movie. Everyone else (racist or not) is a fucking immoral psychopath.

I didn't actually think the dicksuck was out of character—neither for SLJ's character nor the movie as a whole. It's not even out of character for Tarantino, whose most successful and acclaimed movie has a gay rape dungeon scene.
I think most of the people who can't get over the monolog aren't really thinking about what the scene means in a long line of disturbing scenes by Quentin—probably because they're too young to have even been able to see Pulp Fiction when it did come out.
Out of all the problems the movie has, dicksucking is the least of them.

I thought the whole big black dingus scene, which is just one character trying to provoke another character to shoot first, revealed Tarantino's envy that he wrote, but not get to direct, the same scene in True Romance.
