The space battle are horrible. Dark ships against dark space with ugly blue lasers.
LITERALLY the best sci-fi space series in the last decade.
Based on an absolutely amazing series of novels, good cast overall (a couple notable exceptions), really good acting, incredible sets and atmosphere, can't really stress this last part.
CGI needs some work, but we could have the best space battles ever, if they pour some more money into it.

Killjoys - cheap, pulp trash
DM - bigger budget, but still cheap, fun adventure
Expanse - biggest budget (syfy calls it The Expense unironically), absolutely based characters, actors, space battles, lots of drama, both character driven and plot wise.
Can;t really compare DM to Expanse. It's like saying Enemy Mine is better than Prometheus.

Just wish they wouldn't handwave intersystem travel with this Epstein drive but forget to mention the need for propellant. Tons of power and no propellant means a ship ain't doing jack shit.

There's absolutely amazing sci-fi main arc coming that's not even hinted at.
Then you have the solar system grand politics.

I really liked it. I didn't want to get my hopes up when a friend recommended it to me, especially once I realized it was on SyFy, but I was extremely surprised at the overall quality of the show.
Sadly, the ratings haven't been all that great so far; I sure hope they manage to attract more viewers, because this show definitely deserves an audience.
This series is phenomenal, and so long as it doesn't get canned early it may well end up being the best SF series ever made for TV. As for anybody who saw this and Dark Matter and preferred the latter, you are not supposed to post here until you're an adult.
I hate to wait for new episodes...
Overall all 4 episodes were great, 9.9/10 from me.
