The design of a lightsaber is quite problematic for creativity. You can't do much without severely inhibiting the lightsaber's effectiveness. You want to have as much of the laser apart of your design as possible, since it literally cuts anything. Put too much into your hilt or wielding apparatus, and you run the risk of getting your weapon destroyed in a lightsaber duel.
If there was a way to actually bend the lightsaber's blade, I guess you could do some sort of scimitar.

My lightsaber would have emitters on all sides of my body built into my clothing.
