Yep, aide from Korriban Tomb the neutral character/grey jedi was actually more proficient with force all around.
Yes, there was a prestige class, but not only it wasnt necessary, but also it demanded only a few poits in one of the paths - it takes 4-5 serious decisions to go back being grey.

Edgemaster is being dark for being dark's sake. Kreia was trying to apply real life moral considerations to the fantasy of Star Wars. Her little rant at the end of the game about hating the force because it uses people as pawns to balance itself out was neat. I could see Luke developing a similar thought process Episode VIII if they want to risk going that route.
