Liam Neeson was also a great choice; the problem with the prequels is that they have more the atmosphere, pace and elements of a tv show rather than the previous saga, good actors don't always make a good movie.

It actually feels like a backstory to what happened in a different era before the events in the OT.
The overall presentation was just off from writing to execution.
I will say that including big ass space battles is a welcome change, but there were too few, and they weren't utilized correctly.
Virtually everything else the prequels added to the series was pure cancer, half thought out ideas and madness.

Yeah, the way it came together was pretty stupid, but I would've loved the prequels tl differentiate themselves from the original trilogy by dealing with the political decline of Jedi due to their own flaws. Neat counterpoint to the mythological Arthurian fantasy that the Jedi Knights are set up as by the audience and Luke's impressions.

You know, I actually didn't hate the prequels that much. They aren't as good as the originals, sure, but besides Jar Jar (and even he's redeemed a little bit by that one Sith Lord Jar Jar theory) they aren't bad. They kind of have more of a KOTOR feel to them and I loved those games.
