To be fair Del Toro went full Steven Seagull at the end, dishing out headshots from the hip and whatnot.

She was a very good cop, and I think they decided to give her a shot at joining the big leagues. When she proved incapable they kept her around because they had to, but weren't going to put up with her goody two shoes bullshit.

I had some issues with the movie but it definitely wasn't slow or boring. I'm amazed that people weren't happy with that shootout on the bridge, the tunnels or del toro going splinter cell at the end

Seemed to me they only kept her around because she needed to sign her the document later. They tested her and if she had proven herself to be a 'teamplayer' she would've been a new contact within the fbi. If not she would be killed or blackmailed to sign the the paper.

I think the hitman was supposed to kill her in the end but didn't because she reminded him of his daughter and he basically implied there might be other people trying to kill her in the future.
>>
>>64157877
Blunt was far from professional and all that playing by the book stuff is over done. They failed badly with her character (blubber face and shit at her job), it could of been done better, well better.
I watched Cartel Land a couple of days later and they even ripped off the superior helicopter scenes from that.

A rifle round is superior in all aspects besides weight and over-penetration. If you are outside, a rifle is always better. If you are inside, an SMG might have a place but they are mostly obsolete when short-barreled rifles are standard now.
>>
>>64158460
Because it was a shit fucking film with nothing to redeem it.

At least Emily Blunt tried to put some life to it but Deakins, Villeneuve and writers were jerking in circle too hard and too furiously to understand anything.

Fucking Villeneuve is probably air head himself, none of his films have any style to them other than Roger's cinematography which he doesn't even understand or use that well.

Fucking trash movie praised by /v/edditors infesting this board.

I don't know man. It's hard to say how it would've played out if had left the car like she's been told. Same with entering the supermarket. She just was lucky. She almost died like at least 4 times but only didn't because plot armor. The beginning with the shotgun blast, the mexican cop shooting at her, almost choked to death, gun shot out of her hands, shot into the vest (that on purpose I guess).

>That does not make her a bad person
Nobody said that. It does make her useless though. She has her place and time. But this wasn't it. The truth is when push comes to shove, she couldn't deal with it. Her ideals had completely blinded her on how reality works. She was so keen on playing by the rules even if it in the end meant more dead bodies on the streets.

Yeah turns out the world is shades of gray and two wrongs sometimes are the only way to make a right and there can be no final victory, only a continuous struggle to hold back the forces of chaos by playing them off against one another and making deals with the devil.

This is the consequence of a free-minded market society. People want drugs. They are outlawed, but people want them anyway. That makes them very valuable, however. If legitimate business is not permitted to fill the demand, illegitimate business will. You try to discourage consumption at home, and do what you can to fight the suppliers abroad.

The other guy had been in Iraq. I think he could handle himself in case shit went down. They just didn't want someone savvy with the law. They took it as a plus that she was a grunt who kicked down doors.

Basically, yes, they wanted someone easy to manipulate who wouldn't figure out what they were doing in time for it to matter, if at all.

>>
>>64161853

Good afternoon Reddit
>>
>>64162031
I've seen every movie of Villeneuve and they are nothing but Ron Howard tier styless, identity lacking trash.

The worst were of course Prisoners and Spicario which both show the glaring lack of any ideas from the director, carried only and solely by some pretty images Deakins managed to muster up, Incendies is fucking Nolan tier tweest garbage but you probably haven't even seen it.

Wait a minute can't put DV on level of Nolan, at least Nolan has certain themes and visual sense that's somewhat unique to him.
>>
>>64162002

Vining was pretty clearly his inspiration, yeah.

It's always the ones who look like Mr. Peepers that you have to watch out for.

I'm not that guy nor have I criticised the physique of members of the team, I've criticised other things.
I put it on to download because quite a few people have mentioned it in Sicario threads, maybe you, not sure.
Is it a documentary, I thought it was a movie documentary but it's a tv series yeah?

>>

TV Series based on a book, written by a journalist who was embedded with a marine unit during the invasion of Iraq. Really great window into the culture and mindset of young marines. There's even a few actual members of the unit who play themselves, so they were present to help with authenticity.

Great show. Edifying and funny.
>>
>1. Slow zoom, behind-the-head shot, explosion. Slow zoom, behind-the-head shot, no explosion.
In the war on drugs, violence is unpredictable

>2. Over-the-shoulder wide shot of Brolin being briefed. Over-the-shoulder wide shot of Blunt being briefed within this same sequence.
In the war on drugs, everyone is a cog in the machine

>3. Neverending wide shots full of officers, gangsters, helicopters.
The density of people and places involved in the war on drugs is staggering

I knew all this already. I'm sure everyone in the audience did too.

What's the point of your complaint exactly? I know you don't have one but-

There's nothing visually interesting about the movie. Or if Roger manages to make something it becomes shit anyway because the director is a talentless hack that doesn't understand motion picture
