>>
is this the worst Bond movie?
>>
>>64132962
You know, my first instinct was to say 'no,' but the more I think about it, the more I wonder.

This movie is as silly and shitty as any of the Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan movies, but it totally lacks all the fun and charm that they could occasionally have. Craig is such a stiff, dull post of a man that he fucking ruins all the camp and just makes the campiness worse. He's not charming enough to salvage the bullshit in Spectre.

Combine that with the way this movie completely ruins Casino Royale, one of the best movies in the franchise, and... maybe it IS the worst Bond movie ever.
>>
>>
>>64132962
Anyone who doesn't think Bond reached it's depths with Die Another Day and the 6 or so films preceding it (Not incl. Goldeneye obvs) hasn't watched them recently.

Spectre was a worthy sequel to Skyfall but suffered from identical problems e.g. villain didn't have a believable motive, lacked exposition from MI6 and generally felt a bit paint by numbers.
>>
blofeld introduction was cool
the scene with the meteroite was amazing
the last scene in the old mi6 headquaters was amazing
>>
>>64132395
>She fucking rocked the living hell out of that silver gown, though
Speaking of which, why the fuck did she and Bond have so many nice clothes? Like how much shit you think they packed for their trip which you assume they took in a rush?

So much of this movie was just Craig and his sloot in shots that belong in a fashion mag like
>>64132465

It felt like I was watching a cartoon from the '80's
>>
That scene in the train was the worst thing that ever happened in the history of cinema. The fight started and from all the sudden the restaurant was empty, Batista instead of coming with a knife just kicks the fucking table. How did he even found Bond there?

Oh and also:

>Shit!

Literally reddit, instead of grabbing Bond he says that stupid curse word for a few laughs.
>>
>people get serious Bond
>muh Connery muh references it's too dark
>people get classic Bond
>waaah it's too silly
>>
>>64135478
I imagined Bautista carefully picking her clothes in her closet in Swiss after abducting her and before taking her away.

It really shows that they didn't care about the plot and just wanted to shoot a collection of "iconic" scenes.
>>
>>64135637

This reference shit is really starting to piss me off. Just because you made a scene than reminds us of From Russia With Love doesn't necessarily make it good.

Skyfall was the anniversary one and didn't have that many references. It actually maintained a good balance.
>>
>>64135630
The problem with Spectre is that it's tone is not very consistent. Some scenes are amazingly campy though, like Spectre meeting. The ripped-from-headlines subplot about muh freedums feels weird comparatively.
>>
>>64135587
>How did he even found Bond there?
How did they find Bond anywhere in the movie? How did Blofeld know Bond was at the Spectre meeting (and know *exactly* where he was standing?)

I think they were tracking Bond's blood even though Q was supposed to have disabled it for a couple of days (remember he could see Bond on his screen in Italy or wherever)
>>
>>64132062
>it was painfully boring
flaws with the story are to be expected in a bond film, but we over look it because the movies were fun. the last couple of bond movies have not been fun or even the least bit entertaining.
>>
Even the action was shit. The car chase and the plane scene had zero suspense. Compare them to the parkour scene in CR or Shanghai tower in Skyfall.
>>
>>64135867

>>
>>64132194

I was honestly disappointed she ended up with Bond.

Normally I'm not about that GURRL POWER shit but you don't go from saying "Oh I know your tricks, Mr. Bond, you can't seduce me" and then fuck him like 15 minutes movie time later.

And the one time she picks up a gun she gets her shit handed to her and she never demonstrates an ounce of competence again.

Fuck, this film went bad towards the end.
>>
>>64135894

My god, the car chase scene was awful, Batista didn't even tried anything he just followed Bond around. The airplane scene was just beyond retarded
>>
>>64135567
i meant lighting and colors and such. funeral was awesome too
>>
>>64135752

I agree with most of what you said, and the dichotomy is really obvious come the final act where the SPECTRE endgame plot shares screen time with Blofeld playing Dick Dastardly and the callbacks/fun moments being upended by "EVERYONE BOND LOVES DIES" every so often.

It's a bipolar film that wants to have its cake and eat it too.
>>
>>64136154
Yeah, it's two movies mashed together, and it doesn't work very well.
>>
I'm confused.

>>
>>64135509

The guy bond kills at the beginning is the head of the mexican specter division. The guy batista kills wanted to take it but he was killed and so bat got it. Batista is at that point either an eccentric seeking to kill a good prey or looking to kill the guy that killed his former position owner as a show of force (or just the show of force in general). He was clearly intended just to be ye oldie eccentric mini-boss like Oddjob, but they clearly had no clue where to go with it as evidenced simply by the metal prongs he had on his pinkies to begin. There he was a silly imposing villain with some nickname like mechafinger and they took them off pretty much the next scene.

I just wish they went with Quantum as the big bad organization.

Their opera meeting was much better than this Spectre meeting crap.

Also in the old Bond movies it always felt like he got the villain and destroyed their base but it took considerable effort to do so.
In the newer ones he defeats villains and blows up their bases with zero effort.
A shot at a randomly placed gas pipe and Blofeld's entire high tech crater base is toast and Bond mows down dozens of his guards in the open like it was nothing.
I was half-expecting Craig to morph into Brosnan during that shootout and find a tank just parked behind a building.
>>
>>64138448
you're probably spending too much time in the basement
>>
>>64138636
Brosnan tank scene is the pinnacle for all Bond films. I'd even accept it if it was dropped into his lap from plane like a care package from god.
>>
The plot is borderline nonsensical and I've had enough of them milking mr white for four movies in a row now.

Also it was a shit idea to have Waltz play Blofeld since he did his usual quirky routine and came off as a weak villain to.

No idea why Bond didn't just lunge and snap his neck while they were walking down that cyber unit display at his base. He was like half a foot away from him and the guards were not even close.
>>
>>64138636

wat
Not only does Spectre completely undercut the main villain of Skyfall in a lame, hamfisted way, but it runs counter to the themes explored in the previous film, such as Bond getting older and sloppier. It was goofy as fuck to open with that wacky LOL I'M FALLING ON A COUCH when the last we saw of Bond was him mourning the loss of M.

Complete mood whiplash, and I wasn't even a huge fan of Skyfall.

I assumed the big guy was going haywire on his own. But allowing it doesn't make any sense from Blofeld's point of view if he wanted closure, or maybe it was just a test after all. He was only written there to provide action of course. What nonsense.

I didn't care for QoS in the theater but when I watched it again at home on blue ray it became my favorite Bond movie ever.

There are a lot of smaller details that get lost in between all of the action the first time you watch it. Plus OoS is the Craig movie where Bond is operating at max power level.

He was too green in Casino Royale and they gimped him in Skyfall. Hell, QoS would have taken Bautista no problem.
>>
The thing I disliked the most is how oddly smug Bond was the entire time.

Literally a couple of weeks ago in the movie setting he got M killed and he owed the new M a favor and they were relatively chummy and when the movie starts he's already talking shit straight to new-M's face and also to Q's face as well. It doesn't even come across as charismatically charming, he's just being a straight up dick about it.
And considering he's hunting down the person responsible for every major fuckup in his career he keeps talking shit any time he has dialogue like he's calling the shots.
Hell, Blofeld could've killed him 50 times over during all of this yet Bond's still acting smug like a prick every time he opens his mouth.

The only time he actually started acting sane is when Blofeld played that time where White kills himself an Bond immediately goes into whiny pussy mode and begs him to stop.
>>
>>64146112

License to Kill was literal shit.

...little more than a bigger budget 80's television movie. Plus Dalton got the character all wrong.
>>
>>64146210

The beginning sort of sucks, but the movie gets quite good later and the plot has a number of twists. Plus the final chase is pretty damn good.
>>
>>64146183

The new M was a desk jockey that kept getting in his way of trying to track down Spectre. The new M is a pest and not much more up until the end.

I found rogue nation one of the best MI and definitely much better than spectre. RN has much better action sequence, better character, funnier, and more enjoyable storyline. Sure whatever you called it generic or else, but the execution was spot on, i was entertained throughout.
Unlike Spectre, there are no tension on every action scene (worst car chase ever, bond take down the guard one by one easily), the reveal of blofeld and his motivation behind it was stupid as hell and doesn't make any sense.
>>
>>64142433

he was the only good thing about this movie.

The opening theme (Writing's On the wall by Sam Smith) was pretty shit and a good indicator of what was to come.

I'm really fucking tired of morons who thought CR was a good movie.

It's just plain bad. From the moody opening scene, to the poker garbage that takes up far too much time, to the yawn-fest of a third act.

Not only is it nothing like a Bond film, it's only barely passable as a spy film.

Inb4 some retard says "b-but it's close to the books!" as if any of the other movies have taken more than a few set-pieces and plot threads from them.

I really need to do a full Bond marathon one of these days. It's been years since I've seen most of the films.

I figure I'll go all the way up to The World is Not Enough. It really should have been Brosnan's last movie anyway.

>Bond gets drilled in the head twice in one sitting, but he ends up being okay and is sniping away at henchman a few seconds later
Shit movie, but I give them credit for one thing.

If I remember correctly, one of the drills was supposed to fuck with his memory of people he knew, or their faces? Next scene he rans off with the girl, he keeps turning to look at her at every spare second he gets. They don't address it afterwards.

Firendly reminder that they went with Sam Shit's "The excrement on the wall" over fucking Radiohead and this song:

That song is also shit. Honestly, if I had to pick one, it'd be the awful Sam Smith one. It's just dull, not actively offensive.

Highlighting cultures of different lands just don't work as well today as it did in '90s. Even a movie about Canada being a land of moose and syrup would ring hollow, when every modern world hole is 90% islam.

Bond suffers from the same shit Tin Tin does. The world isn't explorer's romance anymore.

he remembers her straight away though
