Not only Kylo was wounded, but he was super wounded. He killed his own father, took an explosive blast from Chewie, escaped an exploding base, was bleeding all over the place, was hit by Finn's saber more than once and Rey was actually getting her ass kicked for most of the entire fight.
It's not an excuse, just that it didn't feel like a stretch at all, it was only after the movie that I've heard people calling her overpowered and it doesn't make sense to me. I think Daisy did not act really well though and Rey often just acted what was going on in her mind without really engaging with the other person. One of the examples is precisely at the last strike when she tunes the Force in or whatever.

Calling a character a mary sue is a perfectly legitimate criticism, having an overly powerful main character can be a detriment to a film, there's nothing wrong with leveling that criticism against a film.
