I've had more fun watching this 2:57 scene than with the whole TFA movie.
Plus, there's a whole difference about how the OT treated the stormtroopers and other enemies like these Jabba soldiers and TFA does. ANH did it better and it felt original. This felt like a rehash. I know you're going to harp on me for mentioning a Plinkett review, but yeah, the ending multiplication effect is real. Endor sucked, and the space battle didn't have the charm of Hoth and Yavin. We'd already been there and done that.
RotJ is a sloppy lazy film in most respects. It started off well, and the scenes with Luke, Vader, and the Emperor are well done, but we're left with about half of the movie as filler. Fuck that shit.

Another pilot had already almost made it himself. What was difficult was surviving the trench run and making it before the Death Star vaporized rebel command. Both Obi-Wan and Yoda gracefully accepted and allowed their own deaths. They disappeared because they essentially ascended into the Force physically.
Vader was killed and wasn't attuned with the Light Side in the same way as Obi-Wan and Yoda, so it's not until his body is burned that you see him as a ghost. It works if you don't try to take everything fully literally and understand that the Force is mystical and often deals with symbolism and metaphor more than hard rules and processes.

He wasn't an amazing adventurer, he got surprise attacked by a bunch of bone-sucking Tuskens. He still couldn't wield a saber very effectively. But he could shoot, and in the heat of the moment he combined the Force with his conscious and made a hail mary shot. That's all there is to that.
We didn't see him drinking his own piss in the desert, saving Ben Solo, fixing the Millenium Falcon because "lol Han doesn't know all the tech stuff", mind controlling storm troopers on the Death Star, and last but not least beating Vader in head to head combat.
