TRAITOR has a shock to it because Finn is shit. You hear it and remember Finn was stormtrooper. That realization that Finn is a traitor, as you almost forgot.

Probably one of my favorite parts is when Kylo thrashes his computer. How he goes from psychotic baby rage fit to cold and deadly the instant the officer mentions Rey.

Also, I think it's a bit unfair to rule out other scenes because of nostalgia, it's not like the scenes are just repeated. For instance, meeting Luke was a great scene, and it is not "nostalgia", Luke is an important character of the old trilogy and meeting him means something to the story. Meeting Leia and 3PO interrupting and all, that was not a great scene in spite of having old characters, because they felt just there because of the nostalgia, not made great or anew, unlike Luke, which seems to be a completely different character from before, we do not know exactly what will be of him.

I'd say the speech scene is definitely a great part. It isn't due to nostalgia, because you don't typically think about the prequels anymore even if Palpatine was pretty cool in them. It's just a great way to show off that kind of character in the current setting and a concise fashion. The Emperor and Tarkin never really got a chance to make their case in the OT.

Finn pops the lightsabre for the first time against TR-8R and we see jedi colours for the first time in years and people began clapping as the music swelled.
This wasn't even for me because personally I saw it coming since I was spoiled but when Finn is facing Kylo Ren and when he finally loses a girl, early 20s/late teens gasped and clasped her hand to her mouth for about the length it took Rey to pop the lightsabre for the first time.
I don't know if that second one counts since it sorts of banks on lightsabre nostalgia but let's say when, for me at least, when Poe destroys those TIE fighters in Maz Kanata's cantina.

Most of Finn's storyline, from the TIE escape to arriving at the Gunplanet, was humorous stuff that was actually funny and not too often about zingy one-liners. And of course "TRAITOR" was amazing.
Star Wars as a whole has a tendency to be voices (usually British ones at that) droning on for the sake of narrative, and what made Finn work was the same thing that made Solo work in the OT: he's a plain-spoken guy getting into funny situations. He's also less naturally smooth and badass than Han is, so he's easier to empathize with.
Out of the new characters they introduced, somehow it was Black Sweaty Stormtrooper hit the mark the best.

The Death Star escape in the beginning was good because the character bond between Poe and Finn was immediately apparent and likable. (Should have done more with it, instead they do literally nothing).
The falcon escape was cool mostly because it was a cool scene, nothing to do with nostalgia.
In my opinion the movie goes down from there, but the first solid half hour was entertaining and awesome as fuck. Wish the rest of the movie was that well made.

this is the problem with a new star wars movie, or just star wars in general. it's in the uncanny valley. In the 70s, all of these plot holes are easily filled by "dude star wars lmao" as at least the first movie was never to be taken very seriously. These days, more and more is demanded of each movie for plot coverage -- at least by people who give a damn about watching a quality movie, because popular movies these days are ones that sell before they even open.
This new star wars is true to the feel of the originals, but yes, there are more than a few things here and there that require suspension of disbelief.
However, Luke's MIA status was explained in the movie. Also you said it yourself, the bad guys "claimed" it was about power. The only explanation I can think of for Kylo is that he was young. He turned against Luke and joined the dark side. Other plot points are explained by "dude next movie lmao"
