Seems a weird move but whatever. I guess Bossk is an option but it seems a strange one. Like, it's a leap to go from 'willing to take on bounty missions issued by the Empire' to 'willing to fight on the front lines of a random battle'. Boba only barely makes sense thanks to his vendetta against Han.
Although, that is arguably true of every hero character except Luke and maybe Han/Vader.

There is. Make it a smaller scale story. Make it "just another day in the life of a bounty hunter" where he'd tracking some bounty head across the nar-shadda or something.
Or you have an older boba fett who's retired to some shithole corner of the galaxy, and gets forced to come out of retirement for some reason. Think Yojimbo, Unforgiven, Dark Knight Returns. An unmerciful unstoppable old badass that you got on the wrong side of.
The end of the movie is him getting in slave one, about to set a course back home, when he gets the transmission about a big bounty, pauses for a beat, recalculates his course, and as he engages the hyperdrive smashcut to credits with AC/DC's "Back in Black" as performed by John Williams blares over the cinema speakers.
The applause is deafening.
