IMO Waking Life was kinda garbage and pseudoscience/philosophy. If she's into pretentious french films what about The Congress? It's a much better film than Waking Life, or you can watch The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, another French film but better than most and actually based on a true story. Though, if you're looking to get her in the mood, I wouldn't recommend it, it's pretty dark.
