Pointless, boring, self-referential, hackneyed (ESPECIALLY that fucking VO part) and with a completely lackluster anticlimax ending. It's a fucking drag to sit through.
Worse is that this cast is squandered. Not one character comes close to being three dimensional. Mexican Bob is a fucking cartoon. It's like Tarantino asked Demian Bichir to do Tuco from The Good The Bad and The Ugly, only retarded. Roth is nothing. Madsen is just sorta bad. Russel gets nothing. Jackson gets nothing. Goggins gets nothing. Bruce Dern gets less than nothing.
And what the fuck was up with the weird themes of racial tension and authoritarian brutality? Like, I get it, because those are the big talking points right now, but he never really said anything or conveyed a clear or even thoughtful point. It's just dialogue for the sake of dialogue with a vaguely Western setting so he can shoehorn in as many uses of the word nigger as possible. Seriously, he fucking loves that word. Leigh has one of the year's very coolest characters and performances. She takes a ridiculous amount of abuse and never buckles. She has a secret backstory hinted at in lovingly wrought asides where she shares a look with her brother; it's clear these two have been through legendary exploits together. She hasone of the most gothic, guignol death scenesever put to film.
And master-of-iconography QT sells you on it all with his usual virtuoso filmcraft.

I have two major complaints about this movie:
1. Some of the conversations just go in circles during the last half of the movie and there's far too many lines given to Tatum and Leigh. Their monologues drag in places.
2. The narration was unnecessary, Tarantino could have told that entire story visually. Even a montage would have been better. It just seems like he got into the studio and had no idea how to communicate what happened to the audience. Even having someone else narrate it would have been better.
Overall really liked it. Editing is really this movie's only problem.
