Scrooge from 1951 is my favorite adaption of that story. Alastair Sim does such a fantastic job though his acting, showing how Scrooge slowly realizes just how badly he has faltered. It is done at a pace that is believable, how somebody that old and terrible could actually change their ways.
Truly one of the more touching performances I've seen in a Christmas movie.
