Since the boys have gone there separate ways since doing the podcast and radio show, who has managed to make the best show?

The Moaning of Life vs Hello Ladies vs Derek who wins?
>>
>>64035980
Merchant is the obvious talent of this bunch

That's probably true, and definitely I would rate Extras above all three of these shows, but I really struggled to watch Hello Ladies due to how damn cringe worthy it was.

That says more about me, the pleb, then Smerchs show though.
>>
>>64036065
>can't handle the cringe

You probably can't watch horror movies either, wimp
>>
>>64035980

All equally as good in different ways
>>
>>64035980

I cannot believe "Derek" is real... probably the worst television i've ever seen
>>
Hello Ladies is best
>>
>>64036116
>Why don't we just call it a draw and everyone wins?

Fuck off mom I won this game of scrabble, read the rules you can't check a word in the dictionary just because my brother is a moron doesn't mean you have to help him REEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>64036100
I can't. Too much empathy I suppose? I dunno
>>
>>64036123

this

and it wins awards & critical acclaim

its so formulaic and predictable I only managed 1 season.

is this what people want nowadays?

Remember if you want awards, either a show about the holocaust or play a mental..

Another good question is if Idiot Abroad is better then Moaning of Life, I think the big difference is an Idiot abroad pokes Karl with a stick (Ricky Gervais) which really does seem to get the best out of him.

On the other hand Karl is a right miserable sod on an Idiot abroad.
>>
>>64036176
You should judge any art based solely on the strongest emotion response it gives you, because that was it's intention.
>>
>>64036343
Yes but if it's torture, then I'm not enjoying it. And that's the whole point of this.
>>
>>64036343
Americans need to root for the good guy though. Hence why they genuinely believe US Office Jim is better than UK Office Tim
>>
>>64036360
Yea you have the right to dislike whatever you want, but it still succeeded in it's goal 100%
>>
>>64036306
>On the other hand Karl is a right miserable sod on an Idiot abroad.
This. It's just not fun to watch him be abused nonstop

It's sad that they probably won't create anything like the XFM shows again, those were just pure genius
>>
>>64036419
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ sure
>>
>>64036383
I'm american, and I understand this meme but it's not totally right

>>
>1. Hello Ladies
Great all around. Bit of a retreat of extras (guy with female sidekick).
>2. Moaning of Life
Just glad to see Karl enjoying himself for once instead of being tortured by Ricky.
>Bottom. Derek
Couldn't even make it through the pilot.

I still think the Rick+Karl combination works the best though. Ricky is able to get the best answers out of him while also underlining how ridiculous it is.

>>64036065
>I really struggled to watch Hello Ladies due to how damn cringe worthy it was.
But that's the good part anon.
>>
>>64036153
Calm down anon.
>>
>>64036065
Merchant turned Extras from B+ to A+

him and Ricky need each other to make anything above par.
>>
>>64036212

>Look how amazing, kind and generous Derek is
>Derek doesn't want for anything Derek just wants to help people
>Derek loves everyone
>Derek is better than you

Kek I remember sitting across from my brother while he was watching it on his laptop with headphones. At one point he start sinking in his chair and he slowly put his face onto his hands while moaning.

Glorious.

This is modern society. Two people in close proximity leading disconnected lives. Who would have thought that the internet, which supposed connects us all, actually causes us all to be lonely.

I think it's cool that we can share images, and videos instantly like this. It's a new interesting ground that's just at it's beginning

Yeah I know. Honestly I have only had sex with girls I met online. I'm a social freak but if I can convince someone I'm normal I can usually get them into bed before they notice my eccentricities.

>>
>>64035980
I like Moaning of Life the best, genuinely good show.

Derek is just "oh how sad but Derek is super nice even though he's a retard"

Hello Ladies is just "This guy has confidence problem. That's the only joke."
>>
>>64036986
>A good argument would be Kony 2012, but that went hay wire and turned out to be a bit of a scam
The arab spring might be a better example but that went to shit too in a few places. Not all though.

But the whole argument is silly. Social media exists and it's here to stay. And however much you may hate it, here we are, bunch of strangers from all over the world discussing movies, shows and calling each other names.
>>
>>64037101
democracy coming to the middle east through a bunch of protests, but it ended up to be a shit show.
>>
>>64037119
The only place where the arab spring kind of worked was Tunisia. In Algeria nothing changed, Libya has had two civil wars, Egypt got democracy for a bit and then went right back to military rule, Jordon's pretty stable but the king's "reforms" amounted to nothing, the gulf countries crushed any protests immediately, and Syria has been in constant civil war since 2011.
>>
>>64037192
talking about the middle east on an Idiot abroad when Karl went to Israel he said he didn't like it because you always hear that it's kicking off again in Israel.
>>
>>64037105
same, Ricky was so right when he said they needed Karl on the tele just so you can see his face, his gimp expressions are fucking hilarious!

Also the Moaning of Life seems to show that Karl is legitimately a very open minded person.

From the podcasts you'd think he'd be a bit of a homophobic person but even when he met up with furry is one episode he was very respectful
>>
do you guys think he does have 83 IQ?
>>
>>64037399
It's entirely possible, I guess he just doesn't have knowledge in the conventional way and instead has a lot of wisdom and insight..

and 83 would only be one standard deviation below average, so I imagine a lot of people are around that number.
>>
>>64037399
Why not? 100 is the average and I know everyone claims they have above 100 but by definition 50% of the population must be below

Life's too Short being in front of extras is criminal

although I seem to remember the female character in that was pretty good
>>
>>64037820
Life's too Short was way better than Extras
>>
>>64037833
Maybe you're right but that ending to Extras had me in tears, Life's too Short definitely was good, but I felt like it had lulls in between the greatness
>>
>>64037533
Try this:

>The Office > Extras > An Idiot Abroad > Moaning of Life > Life's too Short >>>>>>>Derek

Though Life's too Short does have moments that match Extras in hilarity, they're just too few and far between.
Haven't seen Hello Ladies. Is it as good as people here say it is?

That's hilarious you think a show that had very little planning, Gervais showing up drunk or hungover or on painkillers, had the competition ROCKBUSTERS is better then their solo work which each person puts their heart and soul into.

you're probably right though which is the best thing.

Hello Ladies sadly proves Merchant is a very limited writer and performer.
He can play himself and that's it.
>>
>>64037833
this is objectively incorrect
>>
>>64037986
This.

The podcasts were just rehashes of the XFM shows where they re-told the same stories. Season 2 onwards of XFM is legendary.

>>64039770
His voice acting in Portal 2 was pretty good, and recently was in the Big Bang Theory as.. a lanky geek.
