if this fucking movie had the advertizing budget of TFA, it would have been deemed a cult classic

DREDD appreciation

I was honestly surprised how great and simple it was

>>64013849
You realize most movies considered cult classic where box office bombs right?
>>
>>64014059
Cult classics are films with an exceedingly large fanbase. For example, Star Wars is an incredibly successful cult film.
>>
Literally the Raid Redemption: Capeshit Edition.
>>
>>64014134
Exactly but box office performance doesnt determine what a cult classic is.
>>
>>64014194
a million times better than the raid
>>
>>64014194
They came out the same year so it can't be a ripoff
>>
>>64013606
Severely underappreciated movie
>>
i liked this more than i did mad max
>>
>>64013606
uh if you spend 200 million dollars advertising a movie, it being a cult classic would kinda suck
>>

Judge Dredd isn't capeshit
>>

Star Wars is the most opposite of cult ever

Actually The Raid ripped off the script of Dredd.

IT should go the way of Ash vs Evil dead TV series...

Cult classics are simply things that have very dedicated fanbases. As in, cult-like following/adoration.

Something can be very popular but still have a cult following. It just usually doesn't work that way because of niches.
>>
If it's hyped and has amazing box office, it can't be a cult classic

And y'all be saying it was a bad movie with no character development, no plot, just a long hunt, and the main character of the movie having next to no lines and being obfuscated by the co-star. Just like Mad Max.
>>
>>64014539
but it wasn't hyped and didn't have an amazing box office

That's the point of Dredd. He's a badass who can't lose. The movie is his fucking name. You go to see Dredd sentence people to death and clean up the streets. He is /pol/ incarnate.

I dont know, the 3d dredd was way to EDGY, at least the stallone one had some laughs here and there and we got to know the character a bit more

I liked the part where Avon Barksdale used oculus rift.

wat
>>
>>64015561
Oh fucking boy.

Stallone's Dredd wasn't Dredd at all. Urban's Dredd is an extremely faithful representation of the character's personality.

>>
I like this movie I just dont like how they tried to make it so grim, realistic, and colorless. In terms of the city and Lawmaster the other movie was perfect.

I don't think you know what a cult classic is.

PROTIP: Dredd is, or at the very least is destined to be, one. TFA is not, just a regular success.

I would like one with more Blade Runner style atmosphere, but with Dredd's style and action of course.

Oh and Olivia Thirlby would be nice.

This is exactly what i want anon. Imagine if it could be done in the 80s with a medium/high budget.

Actually what you are describing is almost the opposite. When we refer to a cult classic, it is usually a smaller film that didn't receive huge success at the time of release but maintained a strong and loyal fan base. The best and most well known example of a cult classic is the Rocky Horror Picture Show which was a huge flop at release.
>>
>>64015038
no, no he's not. blondie saved Dredd, don't you know.
>>
>>64021561
Blade Runner is a similar example. It was a complete box office disaster. Citizen Kane, surprisingly, is another example.
