I think is the most spectacle-centric of the series. It's got better visuals, better score, a wider scale than the others, it's just a well made adventure movie, in the same of the old epic blockbusters. I give it a solid 8

TDKR is a total mess in every way and Nolan didn't even want to make it, but despite its problems there is a scale to it that separates it from a lot of other movies. It's a big, dumb spectacle that at least tries to have character development and themes being played out.

Honestly, I think the biggest problem with TDKR is that it's a lot more like Begins, and people didn't like Begins. They liked the crime drama aspects of TDK and Ledger's incredible performance, and unfortunately that was actually not actually what the Dark Knight Trilogy was really about after all, it was all about the Shadow-esque pulp adventure. Which, yeah, is Batman as hell, but TDKR was further hampered by trying to seem more like TDK superficially (the cold colors, the incredibly bizarre shit with the government, CIA included) when really it wanted to be a sequel to the movie where Qui Gon Ninja wants to crash a microwave into the city's reservoir to flood everybody's lungs with fear toxin. Meanwhile, TDK wouldn't even give the Joker simple poison gas.
