But it's wrong to blame RLM. They are merely parasites, who noticed that prequel hate is becoming memetic over the Internet and decided to make some quick buck by making clickbait videos pandering to the crowd.
As to why the prequel hate became memetic, well - it is always easier to shitpost than to have a meaningful discussion, and Star Wars are a very popular target for shitposting. While dedicated SW forums were at worst neutral towards the prequels, because people involved in long-term communities had to actually weight their opinion lest they be rightfully considered retards, social media more vulnerable to shitposting, including 4chan, were largely overran.
Not that it prevented the prequels from earning lots of monies, just like /v/'s unfailing hatred of every modern mainstream game does not harm those games' bottom lines. But it became nigh-impossible to hold a rational discussion on prequels in non-moderated environments.

I was. I missed seeing OT in theaters by a few years.
Yeah, I was somewhat disappointed after seeing TPM. The droid army simply was not menacing enough, and I wanted more actual wars among stars, instead of podracing.
Soon later, after actually rewatching OT, instead of relying on its idealized images from my childhood, I realized that my expectations simply were set too high overall, and that Lucas is not my bitch, who must film more space battles just because I like them the most. But the term Viceroy means someone who rules instead of another monarch (i.e. rules a country, region...).
