Why didn't TFA expand the Star Wars universe lore at all, for instance adding new spacecraft?
>>63980993
Because JJ can't do anything but copy stuff.
>>63981040
But they could have sold so many more action figures.
>tie fighter now has two pilot seats
>people bitch about it being changed
make up ur minds autists
>>63980993
He was gonna play it safe, the only thing we didn't know was how much.
He went almost 100% safe carbon copy, so no new stuff for ya
Also consider they are focused on selling toys, it's better to concentrate on characters mainly
I.e: 3pO with new arm and Phasma
>>63981099
they can do that by making C3PO's arm red. they literally put no effort into these movies at all.
They did though.
>new planets
>new ground vehicle
>new star destroyer
>new models of Xwing and Tie Fighter
>new aliens
>new droids
>new stormtrooper recruitment method (steal babies)
>new shuttlecraft
>new industry perspective (planet-side salvaging)
There was all sorts of shit
>>63981130
TIE fighters also don't have hyperdrives, so Finn insisting that they head somewhere other than Jakku made no sense - nowhere else could have been in range.
And yes, I did immediately get annoyed by that on the first viewing.
Come on, OP, you're forgetting the best ship
>>63981246
the new tie fighters dont have a hyperdrive? source?
>>63981211
>sand planet with orphans
>ice planet with fighting
>green planet with good guys
amazing
>>63981187
i literally didnt realize they made his arm red for this reason til now
i am naive
>>63980993
>>63980993
I liked that extra insight into Han's smuggling stuff, but nobody talks about that.
Fooking kanjiklub
>>63981246
maybe Finn is just a dumbass and doesn't know that
>>63981211
>new planets
Jakku is Tatooine. The Resistances' planet is Yavin IV
>new ground vehicle
I guess
>new star destroyer
A minor paint job and that's it
>new models of Xwing and Tie Fighter
Lol where? They were all the same
>new aliens
Shit aliens, barely any as well
>new droids
I'll give you that
>new stormtrooper recruitment method (steal babies)
That isn't new, they did that during the OT as well
>new shuttlecraft
Where?
>new industry perspective (planet-side salvaging)
Oh how original
>There was all sorts of rehash
What the hell happened to all the B-wings, y-wing, a-wings?
I think they just want to establish the old stuff new again for the first movie, and then in the second and third ones they'll branch out a bit to include stuff like TIE bombers and TIE interceptors.
Certain things like the imperial dropships were new though.
>>63981354
>only one planet can have a desert!
ok kiddo
>>63980993
That would be coloring outside the lines. JJ doesn't have the imagination for that.
>>63981373
b-wing
>experimental garbage
y-wing
>ancient as fuck bombers
a-wing
>expensive experimental garbage
yeah no
x-wing is the best fighter they have
>>63981350
Poe must not know either or he would have said. But of course it's actually because JJ doesn't know.
>>63980993
>Why didn't TFA expand the Star Wars universe lore at all, for instance adding new spacecraft?
'cause...
>>63981373
A b wing cockpit is used on the rebel troop transport
>>63981447
TIE interceptors?
TIE bombers?
>>63981389
But it looks like the same desert. You can have a desert with a different sky, a different color star. You can have a more red sand. More exotic rock formations. Heck, Geonosis is a desert planet but it doesn't look like Tatooine.
>>63981327
This goy gets it
>>63981447
B wings had more fire power than x wings, a wings had a flawed design I'll give you that, but y wings are useful because there are bombing runs that x wings can't do.
It's like how the military has f-15s and f-22s but still uses stealth bombers
Because it's a children's movie and quality doesn't matter much. It cannot possibly lose audience share between steadiy renewing audiences of children, and obsessed neckbeards who will watch every offering because they don't have lives.
4chan really needs a containment board since there are more SW fantards than mlptards and THEY have a board.
>>63980993
>glib facsimile
>>63981354
>new shuttlecraft
the two-winged thing that Kylo rides around in
What do you call this you fucking boong
>>63981842
A lazy rehash of the Imperial shuttle
>>63981246
The new special forces fighters might have hyperdrives, though I don't know how they would handle the navigational calculations in a ship that size without an astromech.
All the new tie fighters are shielded though. The First Order can't afford to piss them away the way the Empire could.
There were new weapons like that spinning hammer thing, the flamethrower, and Kylo's ghetto saber. The star destroyer's blue-shit launcher reminded me a lot of how missiles look in some star wars videogames, so while not exactly new it was something that hasn't been seen launched from a large ship in the movies before.
>>63981842
70's Cylons design that?
>>63981916
What do you mean that size?
Size and astromechs have nothing to do with lightspeed
>>63981842
>step away from cgi because it looks like plastic
>use practical miniature that looks like plastic
>>63980993
The fans wanted a carbon copy of ANH.
The fans got a carbon copy of ANH.
That's all there is to it.
>>63982269
whats funny is if they labeled it episode 4 literally every single thread would be screaming murder like with the blueray edits.
>>63982269
>The fans wanted a carbon copy of ANH
no we didn't.
>>63981542
Jakku barely had any rocks, it was like a sand ocean.
Compare that to Tatooine which had narrow canyons and mountains. The Mos Eisley shot shows a city in a rocky valley with multicolored geography.
>>63982174
They either need an astromech droid to do the calculations or have a built in navigational computer.
>>63982269
ANH had x-wings, tie fighters, y-wings, and Vader's tie advanced prototype.
This just had x-wings and tie fighters.
>>63982269
>fans
Plebs
Plebs wanted a shitty action flick
Plebs will do anything if fooled by marketing
Plebs
>>63981447
>making shit up to justify this failure of a movie
>>63982603
Then it has a inbuilt nav computer.
Ships have jumped before in SW without astromechs
>>63981842
A physical manifestation of JJ's subconscious obsession with the idea of big [s]veiny[/s] bumpy black [s]cocks[/s] ships as being the clearest sign of evil.
pic related
This obsession with big black [s]cocks[/s] space objects, and his subconscious association of them with evil and death, that can only be triumped over by smaller white space objects, can be seen as far back as Armageddon, which he wrote, in which the [s]white man[/s] astronauts with their white [s]laughably small penises[/s] space shuttles triumph over the menacingly massive, [s]veiny[/s] rocky, black [s]comically large nigger dick[/s] asteroid the size of Texas.
Perhaps there is some good left in him after all...

kek nice job with those spoilersf a g g o t

I was going for strikethrough, just kill me already senpai
>>63980993
Star Wars is about family, not about spaceships
>>63980993
because it isn't a visionary like lucas in charge of the franchise
instead it's a fucking corporation that wants to milk nostalgia and rehash older ideas to appeal to the millennial "le nerdy xD" tumblr crowd
>>63981842
So that's where my router flew off to.
>>63980993
To cash in on nostalgia for the millions of casual Star Wars viewers that don't give a fuck.
>new ships
Han's Freighter
First Order troop transport
Quad jumper
Resurgent-class star destroyer (it's twice the size and just as different looking from the ISD as that double-bridge venerator class)
Leia's little transport ship
First Order shuttle

>>63981842
Looks pretty dumb.
It would have been a lot better if the wings were much shorter. Like an eighth as tall.
>>63981040
/thread
>>63981842
An imperial transport that got its wings stuck in the up position.
>>63982572
Good point.
Tatooine looked more interesting.
Am I the only one who found it pathetic that they blew up four whole planets in the first installment?
What a clumsy and unoriginal way to raise the stakes.
