> Cable bill: $100 a month
> Bloated with movie and reality channels I don't watch

I'm sick of this shit. Who's cutting the cord with me?

Hard Mode: Cut cable's internet too, meaning you watch Freeview/Over-the-air only.
>>
what year do you think it is shithead, there hasn't been over the air/antenna tv for years
>>
>>63972041
Good for you OP. I cut the cord back in 2010 because of everything you listed.

They never got rid of it in America, they just went digital 6 years ago. What country are you from?

Literally never had cable in my entire life. Get the news/weather I need from network stations (ABC,CBS,NBC,FOX) and any movie or tv shows I want to watch I find online or watch in Netflix. I'm not really missing out on much (still get sports games etc.) and it saves a ton of money
>>
>>63972041
It's perfectly reasonable to cut internet if you're not addicted to your computer. Cell phone data is good enough to stream the occasional movie or TV show. You can also use red box or the library to get your fix.
>>
>>63972530
OTS TV is better than ever with a lot of "sub"channels showing up lately with movies, and old TV shows. They are loaded with commercials for the most part, but around here (north of Boston) we also have 6 OTA PBS channels available.

As for internet, there is not yet any decent alternative to cable (again in this area). Xfinity holds an absolute monopoly.
>>
I meant OTA, not OTS.
>>
Welcome to 5 years ago at the very least

TV is a waste of money and until they start offering subscription based or channel picking services tv will continue to be shit until it's death

Tv sitcoms just haven't been the same since the 90s. Even today they are desperately trying to recapture that 90s sitcom magic with shit shows like Fuller House, and Girl Meets World.

Also after Janet Jackson's Super Bowl tit shown Live on air they cracked down on sex so hard trying to watch any film on cable is pointless.

Victoria Secret shows can no longer show the ass thong shots as the girls wake away. Shows like Son Of The Beach blur out thongs at 11PM when they used to show them uncensored at 10PM in 2001. Mtv Spring Break dance beach shows were watered down to show as little skin as possible and than later canceled. There's no such thing as anything can happen live tv anymore since everything is on a 5 or 10 min delay.

Than they hit us hard with brain dead Reality tv shows like Honey Boo-boo to save on writers.

Forced PC shit left and right. Zero sexy shows on the air makes HD tv pointless unless you are into sports or wanna watch a female cop drama show for "The plot"

Hell even the hot blonde weather girls have been replaced in most areas with Black old fat woman thanks to the bitching of SJWs. You can't even see the map behind them do to all the fat and darkness.

Paid cable channels that still have commercial interruptions even tho you pay extra for those channels. They edit shows and films while adding 30,000 animated water marks to let you know "whats Next" or to remind you about some shitty movie of the week they are super proud of and want you to watch.

FUCK THAT SHIT!

Cord cutting is a myth. You're just moving from one box to another.

dig that box baby.
>>
>>63974363
This anon knows. I fucking love MeTV. It's like what Nick at Night used to be before they started airing modern day shows.
>>
>>63975711
Son of the beach is an FX show. They always would have blurred out asscrack on broadcast.
>>
>>63972041
>Hard Mode: Cut cable's internet too

Now you're just being stupid.

I cut the cord about 6 months ago and dont miss it at all. I just stream all my movies/shows on Netflix/Hulu/Kodi now. But obviously those require an internet connection.
>>
>try to cut the chord
>they charge you more for just internet

nope, nothing strange goin on there.
>>

I like israel because they kill muslims and take their land.
>>
>>63975711

Haha, why is the USA so backwards when it comes to nudity?

It's like it's getting more censored, instead of less.

I think those puritan values will never go away.
>>
>>63976355
fucking this baka

Cheapest I could get was 25mbps for 40 a month. Fucking retarded. Im surprised no one has lost it on those dudes yet.
>>
>>63972041
Haven't had cable for 15 years. Always been a fucking waste of money ESPECIALLY now that I can just use Netflix or Hulu.
>>
>>63976310
I still have some old vhs recording of the show when it first aired on FX at 10Pm and they didn't blur out thong shots.

I found myself flipping threw the cable in 2008 and stopped when I found Son of the Beach at 11:30PM. I found that the exact same thong scenes that aired back in the early 2000s were now being blurred.
>>
>>63976515
You don't need tits and ass in your face to have a good show with substance. It's kind of pandering to be honest.
>>
>>63976515
Because it was founded by puritans.

Also obscenity law is an utterly hilarious clusterfuck of total bullshit that is so easy to manipulate to serve puritan agenda, its practically unconstitutional.
>>
>>63976602
FX is not broadcast. The content of cable television is not regulated by the FCC, so any channel can show whatever anyone wants to pay to show. Since its profit seeking, they get sponsors, so the sponsor regulates the content.
>>
>>63976249
Isn't MeTV going to start airing old episodes of Johnny Carson at the beginning of next year? If they are who else /hype/
>>
>>63976249
MeTV replaced RTV in my area, which made me kinda mad because RTV used to do this dank three hour block of The Rockford Files, Magnum PI, and The A-Team.

There used to be a channel that showed music videos all the time too, like old MTV. That's gone now in my area though.

I did over the air and internet only for a long time. I didn't miss cable/satellite really, when I could get everything on the internet so easily.
>>
>>63976518
>25mbps for 40 a month
And whats funny is you'll never be able to pull even a tenth of that at any time with any application, because ISPs are allowed to prioritize traffic based upon type, and grammas checking facebook get top priority since that's 90% of their customers. Streaming, p2p, voip, VPN, games, basically anything that actually needs bandwidth and low latency are all fighting for the bottom priority tier.
>>
>>63976355
This is true. I used to pay $19.99 per month for internet in 2007. They they came up with so shit called U-Vers and everyone had to switch over. The price went up from $19.99 a month to $50 per month and thats using their lowest speed plan.

Ask them why and I've been told the following ...

>"Well a few year ago not as many people were using the internet. Now thanks to things like phones that allow you to watch shows and use websites from phones our costs have gone up"
>>
>>63976634

It's not really the nudity censoring itself that pisses me off, it's the fact that they treat nudity/sex like the worst thing ever, yet they're okay with senseless violence.

Violence is ok for kids to watch, but lord dont show a naked tit because all hell breaks loose.

I miss "The Box" to anon. Never called in to request a music video but enjoyed it just the same

Thank you based government mandated monopoly. I always wanted to pay for 2 landlines that will never ring (because the only people who call them are telemarketers) and cable that I don't watch to get $5 a month off your shitty internet plan.
>>
>>63977357
Nah it wasn't that, it was called TheCoolTV. Apparently it's still around but streams online now outside of a few cities.

True but sometimes you just wanna watch those type of shows. Shows E! used to air like Wild On hosted by Brooke Beck or Howard Stern fucking around with young hot porn chicks.
>>
>>63976634
I agree. Besides, premium cable has picked up the slack there, by shoving mandatory contractual nude scenes into almost every show they air now.
>>
poor so cant afford cable just have internet plus redbox for movies only miss espn really, muted while i listen to music
>>
>>63977904
Why would you pay for internet and redbox?
>>
>>63977678
>streams online now outside of a few cities.
> a few cities.
Wait what? An internet stream show that can only be accessed from certain cities. What do they block some cities from watching the stream kinda like Youtube does with some of their videos.
>>
>>63977968
I worded that poorly. It streams online now for free everywhere, and only has actual stations in a few cities.

It used to be able to be picked up where I live, out in the middle of nowhere. But now the actual stations are only in places like Las Vegas and Chicago. Apparently they're trying to expand to more cities for actual networks.
>>
>>63977904
>plus redbox
I use redbox and the library. If I care about the film or show enough I'll just buy it if it's at a fair price.
