> random trumpets and shit, the soundtrack
George Lucas took a hint, when will this fat fuck?
>>63970494
john williams is a great composer, you just can't seperate the music from the franchise enough to appreciate it, which is expected in people who don't listen to a lot of music.
>>63970494
Come on, man. Episode VII had a lot of problems but the music wasn't one of them.
>>63970536
John Williams died a long time ago. Let him go.
>>63970536
>john williams is a great composer
hack you mean.
Holsts "The Planets" came out in 1914

oh look its fucking Star Wars
>>63970678
>this sounds a little bit like this, therefore this composer stole it from this composer!!!!!

LOOK MOZART USED VIOLINS AND TRUMPETS AND STUFF AND THE SAME THEME FROM THE ODE TO JOY, BEETHOVEN TOTALLY STOLE FROM HIM

just because you have Musical Autism and cant detect theft then there is no need to get upset.

here is Hack WIlliams broken down in great detail and the various classic pieces he raped for movies.

im just saying sometimes what is accepted as an homage in one time period is then called theft in a later time period, especially when the contrarians start coming out of the woodwork looking for a famous person to shit on.

WTF is wrong with you? Are you, dare I say, homosexual?

>liking a literal rehash
>>63971282
ok that's a bit ridiculous i hope williams had minimal input on this otherwise he is really losing it
his soundtrack for tintin gave me ear aids and i kept thinking how much better the intro to the cartoon was the entire time.
williams ran out of stuff to rip off. and if he's doing the soundtrack for B.F.G that's gonna sound awful too
howard shore bros WW@

I'm sorry but your glib facsimile buzzword doesn't work for music
Zimmer for Episode VIII and IX.
At least he knows how to create a good leitmotif and melody still.
>>63971282
desu familia this music is good, naysayers back down
Williams was useless in TFA and nobody in their right mind can refute that.
>>63971501
This.
I love Star Wars, and I love John Williams, but, damn, there is absolutely NO stand-out original track for this movie.
Super disappointed.
>>63971569
Yeah, the only theme or tune that I can remember from TFA was Kylo's little theme which doesn't even have it's own track.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8ac1Qg-r-8
Starts at 4:20 funnily enough
>>63971713
Oh, you know what? I do remember Kylo's theme.
Still, it sure ain't no Duel of Fates. Damn that is a good track.
>>63971282
This wasn't even done by Williams you mongoloid.
>friendly reminder that Williams didn't compose all of the music of TFA
>he was mostly the conductor, not the composer
>>63971797
It seems Williams blew his load too early.
This is the only one that actually sounds like a Star Wars track.
(Minus the main theme, which sounded unusually wimpy)
>>63971713
I swear we better get a full version of his theme in EP VIII
>>63971478
>>63971323
>>63971408
This want even composed by him you dumb fucks. This was from the trailer just Google who composed the trailer music cause it's not JW.
Sadly its the best rehash and wasn't even use in the actual movie

I thought JJ's buddy Michael Giacchino was going to compose this. He's composed all his other stuff. I kind of like the dude, if for nothing but the Cloverfield theme. Dude nailed the sound of the old Akira Ifukube Godzilla music, while modernizing it a bit. It's a better Godzilla theme than what was in the actual '14 Godzilla movie.

>artists never listen to other artists
>artists are never influenced by other artists
>artists never reinvent, reinterpret or reference the vast body of art that was made before them
>good art is always 100% original in form, content, genre, style, message and purpose
Recycling and reinventing is part and parcel of the creative process. This is such a childish, buzzfeed-tier argument. It's made by people with no understanding of how culture works or how artists are inspired to create things, who think that pointing out similarities and calling someone a hack amounts to legitimate criticism. Show me one artist who was 100% original and then come back and argue. Until then I'll enjoy my John Williams, as well as my Holst, Stravinsky, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Turner, Titian, El Greco, Monet, Van Gogh, Raphael, Botticelli, Marlowe, Shakespeare, Eliot, Dickens, Austen, Wordsworth, Chaucer, Homer and Virgil, all great artists who 'ripped off' other artists.
>>63971896
Just a reminder that the wimpy main theme is because a different orchestra recorded it in a different hall (instead of the LSO recording in Abbey)
>go to see tintin
>title sequence starts
>this starts playing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7s8DAdH7L3E
>have to sit through it for a full 3 minutes
Has JW been huffing carbon monoxide? It's fucking Tintin, it's all adventure and mystery and daring-do, and he shits out this trash soundtrack.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zb-9TIr31i0
Compare the film theme with this and you'll see how fucking barren Williams is these days
Rey's Theme and the Resistance March were cool, but kinda off.
I hope they rework the Resistance March into something more powerful for Luke in Episode 8 (Make it an analogue for the Empire March)
>>63970570
I disagree, in fact i hold the equal but opposite opinion
the music was a big problem
>dem epic trailer scores
>not heard once in the entire movie
