The Force Awakens Salaries

>Harrison Ford will receive a flat fee of 25M$, plus a cut of global earnings (+9M$)
>Boyega and Ridley got $450,000
>Carrie Fisher got 1,5M$
>Jew Jew is reportedly on5m$ plus a 2% share of gross earnings – meaning that, if The Force Awakens does break Avatar’s record, he would pick up almost 60M$
>Ford also received 1.5M$ in compensation from Disney after breaking his leg on set

/sw/, what do you think about this?
>>
>>63969687

I think we now know why they killed off his character.
>>
Reminder that for the first Star Wars, Harrison received $10k, which even at the time was very, very low for an actor in a starring role.
>>
Eh, at least he was actually a good actor in the movie.
>>
So he's definitely gonna retire now right
>>
>>63969732
He wanted Han to die for a long time
>>
>>63969880
Wasn't Han originally supposed to die when he got frozen?

I think Boyega and Ridley are in reneg already. They'll have backend points on VIII.

he's in episode 8
>>
>>63969732
Isn't Ford confirmed for episode 8?
>>
J.J. deserves more if I'm being honest.

I think directors who make billions for the company footing the bill for the movie should always be compensated handsomely.

Wonder how much Rian Johnson, Colin Trevorrow and Gareth Edwards will make.
>>
>>63969687
>Boyega and Ridley got $450,000

That's a lot of money but seems pathetically small for actors of the main characters. Why so little when it's gonna make billions?
>>
>>63969732
>I think we now know why they killed off his character.
Because he wanted Han to die for literally years?
>>
>>63969929
Original plan was for him to die in The Empire Strikes Back. Then the plan was for him to die in Return of the Jedi but George scrapped the original plans for the movie and had it rewritten to make it happier and more commercial. Harrison wasn't happy with that but he couldn't do shit.
>>

Disney is tricking you guys. They said he was signed onto Episode VIII so people wouldn't figure out he dies in Episode VII.

In fact, apparently he once said the only way he would ever do Han again is if they killed him off in the movie

What about hammy?
>>
>>63970119
Because they weren't established characters and it's the first movie of the new series. They could've casted someone else, you can't do that with Ford or Fisher. Expect them to make millions more on the next movies.
>>
>>63970119

Your worth as an actor is in what you've done. Boyega did a small alright film, Ridley did like a commercial or something, truly unkown and not worth much. With TFA behind them both are guaranteed to get millions for any other movies they do (outside of the contracted Ep. VIII and Ep. IX that they probably already signed to for just as much as the first one lol)
>>
>>63970119
Being in this flick will make their careers. Disney doesn't have to pay them shit.

Lots of companies do this. You can make more working as jr. programmer at Yelp than Google.
>>
>>63970119
because you can replace unknowns with other unknowns easily, so why pay more?

>>63970308
Mark's career got fucked over because he was in a car accident that ruined his pretty boy looks. Carrie's career getting fucked over is entirely her fault, she spent all of her time and money on cocaine.

I heard it was both. After ESB was changed they moved Han's death to Return, but then some higher up with connections to the Toy Companies pressured Lucas into keeping Han alive, because if Han died then less kids would want Han action figures I guess

Do you live under a rock? The Force Awakens has received critical acclaim and every normie on twitter and facebook is praising it. /tv/ is the only place on the internet where everyone is saying it's shit and this place gets off on being contrarian.
>>
>>63970181
what was even the point of spoilering that
>>
>>63970308
Boyega and Ridley are actually good actors though.

Sadly, their careers will suffer because everyone knows them as the star wars people. Emma Watson can still get decent roles but when people look at her, they think Harry Potter. They will most likely make their money off of going to star wars conventions for the rest of their lives.

Ridley has never been a movie before and Boyega has been in very few. They went from nobodies to stars just by being cast in the movie. They gained much more than money and the amount they got seems fair since they were nobodies being cast for new characters. 450k is also like several years worth of salary for many people and there are at least 2 more movies for them to star in which they will get paid more for.
>>
>>63971125
Carrie wasn't in the movie at all.
And it looks like Ford didn't want anything to do with it since they payed him so much, without that movie he wouldn't have been there.

I haven't met a single person in real life who dislikes it

It's shattered all records for opening weekend releases despite being released in the off-season and not in china, helped by the overwhelmingly positive reaction from people who saw it on wednesday night and thursday

You clearly don't get out of your basement much, senpai
>>
>>63971163
Like I said, I get WHY they didn't give them that much. But it seems like with all the money they're going to obviously make from it they could just fork them over a million out of common courtesy.

I mean they had huge and physically demanding roles that they probably trained months for. Carrie Fisher gets to stand around for a few days spouting off horrible dialogue and gets payed triple what they got.
>>
Disney could have payed Boyega and what's-her-face minimum wage and they still would have done it.

No nobody is going to pass up starring in Star Wars for the lack of money.
>>
>>63969732
I'm guessing it was probably one of the conditions for him coming back.

>The fans get one last adventure with Han.
>The filmmakers get an easy emotional death scene out of it
>Ford gets a few million, and finally gets what he's wanted all these years (Han's death)

Everybody wins.
>>
>>63970939
Why would Han be a force ghost? Han wasn't a jedi.
>>
>>63971163
It's not just acting and being in a movie, you also have to do interviews and all that other promo shit with a smile.
>>
John and Daisy will probably get paid a few million each for the next film, and then a sizeable chunk for the last film.

Expect them to get $2-5 mil each for the next one, and perhaps $7-9 each for the last one.

I've no issues about it. Jennifer Lawrence got like 600k for the first Hunger Games, Andrew Garfield got 500k for the first Amazing Spider-Man etc. Then they got raises on the sequels. If you're not an established star yet, you don't get a huge salary. But you're starring in a GIGANTIC tentpole film which will give you tons of exposure. Especially if it does well. So you get more money for the sequel and then from other movies you do, because other studios look how successful your movies are and how big your "draw" is in the box office, domestically and internationally.

Ford was/is a huge movie star and did bunch of extremely successful films. Fisher rekt her career with drugs, alcohol and mental issues, she hasn't done a big movie in ages. Same thing with Hamill, the car crash he had ruined his Hollywood career, so he did mostly voice acting for a long time. Still does.

The salaries make sense to me.

Worst of all I don't even get to fuck her. The very least this fucking life could do for me in return is let me fuck her in the Rey costume god dammit this shit

If Disney wanted me for the role of Finn for example I'd have done it for this trilogy for like 1k dollars per episode

That's how much I want to be in Star Wars

You can always make some money asking people to pay a few bucks for your autograph later on at conventions

Personally, I wouldn't want to fuck her now that half the Disney execs and Hollywood producers are done with her. Her cunt probably looks like pulled pork now.

I was surprised how tastefully done Han's death was. It would have been so easy for him just to get shot and the cliche "GO ON WITHOUT ME I'LL HOLD THEM OFF" death. It was relevant to the plot and had a lot of dramatic heft

The whole movie was a good sendoff to the character

they've already been cast in the first star wars, there's no way the main cast is going to be changed for the next films so they can demand 40 mill each and disney would have to comply.
>>

sounds like he was smart enough to hold out because he knew they'd pay him almost anything.
>>
>>63973655
I think his total pay was 15m.
Besides the 30 seconds of screen time he was actively involved in production, was present for at least 75% of the filming, and he played a huge huge role hyping the movie, doing interviews and promotional material, attending cons, etc.
Hamill is a fan, hell he's a fan's fan, and this is ultimately a movie directed by fans

He really cleaned the fuck up, and regardless he's probably the most successful Voice-over actor alive - LaFontaine is dead, and James Earl Jones, and while James Earl Jones and Morgan freeman spend more time doing IRL acting and the occasional narration, Hamill is busy lending his voice to practically every animated series and kid show there is.
>>
>>63973781
the movie isnt directed by fans.

fans would have ford be half the movie and luke not even be in it.

hes just there to legitimize it because fan autism and shekels.
>>
>>63970308
>Great careers often start with Star Wars

Getting a good starting role doesn't magically entitle you to have a great career though, you have to work hard and be smart about what you do afterwards to develop your career.

Harrison Ford went on to star in Indiana Jones and other awesome movies.
>>
>>63974077

lol what contract? The contract that she signed and is held under penalty of litigation to comply with?

No that's not meaningless at all, in fact it's the furthest away from meaningless as you can get.

Ask anyone who has ever gotten sued for breaching a contract for a second opinion.

>he's probably the most successful Voice-over actor alive

>>63971921 here, this triggered me.

Hamill is a great and iconic voice actor, but there are voice actors most people haven't heard of who are in hundreds, if not thousands, of cartoons and films. Hamill is nowhere near their level of success.
>>
>>63971688
He had several movie roles after, but once people discovered his vocal range and voice talent he realized his demand was in his voice work.
It's better to have constant high paying work as a V/A, and it was constant, than sucking dick in between roles as a B actor.
Hamill got the best of both worlds - got B and C movie work on occasion and got V/A work.
He has the highest demand of any V/A actor in the world.
The dude has a studio is his house where he records his voice, the mother fucker doesn't even need to leave the house, and this guy's voice is basically in every animated series ever
>>
>>63971198
And don't forget this is the money they ONLY get for the film. They also get a cut from the portrait rights in the merchandise and stuff like that

Literally mark hamill.
His filmography on wiki is by far incomplete.
His voice is in the highest demand, dude did a ton of animated capeshit, he's also extremely well paid for a V/A.

Most actors, especially young actors, even established would probably do Star Wars happily on scale. It gives you so many opportunities in the future. You'll make bank in the next movies you make. Or alternatively you can do really small indie stuff with a director you like and the film will get financiers because they look at you, the fact that you starred in Star Wars, and they know that they can possibly make profit even with pre-rights sales alone.
