Glad you enjoyed Lobster, one of my favourites of the year for sure.

Did you watch hateful eight dvdscr? I'll definitely wait and see that one in cinema, currently assessing if I'll watch any of the others that have been put online. Hard to find the balance of a film that I'm bothered about enough that I want to watch now rather than a few months time, yet also not bothered about enough that I'm happy to watch in bad quality, will probably end up watching none
>>
>>63956272
Yeah Lobster was brilliant didn't expect to laugh as much as I did and yeah Hateful Eight was in good quality but I definitely plan on seeing it again in cinema, just annoying we in the UK have to wait another 3 weeks for it
>>
Think I will enjoy Lobster if I found Dogtooth painfully average. How's the quality and how much impact does the unsubbed French parts have?

Went /festive/ too early, going to have to briefly go un-festive for a day or two, will start with a Cirio H Santiago triple bill of Dune Warriors/Silk/The Devastator today.

Black Christmas is one of the most genuinely unsettling and best slasher/horror films I've seen, was very pleasantly surprised.

not necessarily, it's more that he tries far too hard at using big words and sounding well-read, as if he knew jack shit about what he was talking about. he made some "Inherent Vice Official Fan Club" or whatever and watched the film like 30 times in two weeks. he's bizarre.

I'm not sure what you are asking but if you are asking why it isn't 1920x1080 it's because 1920x800 is a 2.40:1 aspect ratio which is a fairly standard widescreen ratio for movies to be in
>>
>>63969461
2:4:1 isn't too common, is it? I'm pretty sure Sicario is 2:35:1, in any case. That's a difference of less than 20 pixels, but still.

I know. It had some good bits like Leif sacrifice but other than it is quite the letdown the show. The main character Ragnar is such insufferable cunt that I wanted him to get killed by sixth episode.

I'm going to start the River or Top Gear from first season after I've watched the Vikings (or dropped it, I think I will drop it)

I lost a friend I used to sit down and watch movies so I haven't even watched that many in weeks. Feels bad man.

I was thoroughly surprised by this movie. All the parts with the voice memos were really well done.

>>63972550
For sure. Memorable in a lot of ways. I really like the score. Asylum stories freak me out.

And then there's Caruso's "Fuck you!".
>>
>>63972735

Have you seen Grave Encounters? For a crappy b-grade horror movie it's great. Awesome and slow build up, really clever concept, one of my favorite asylum movies. Endlessly rewatchable.
>>
>>63972858
Yeah I did actually. It was alright, went a little too over-the-top for me towards the end and I'm not a huge fan of found footage. It didn't really play the asylum card, it was just a setting for spooky ghosts and grabby hands.

It was mostly fine but not good enough to even try the sequel for me.
>>
>>63973043

I saw it when I was young and always had a love for it. I agree it gets ridiculous towards the end, the monster design is retarded too.

The sequel has the benefit of being completely over the top the entire film but I never liked it much at all.
>>
Man, the ending to The Lobster is really a copout. Did he really need to have the exact same ending as Dogtooth, pretty much beat for beat, shot for shot?

Thanks! The benefits of writing an entire framework from scratch. There is as little bloat as possible (every single user feature fits into less than 100KB of code). Not having to host images is also a big help.

I'm literally adding something new/making something better every day over Winter break. I'm finalising code to delete Lists I we speak. Yesterday I wrote proper granular date display info (days/hours ago, etc.)

The review system is my next priority along with a cool looking logo. Once those are down it would pretty much be on par with MUBI at least. Then I'll add more and more stuff by the month.

I have one planned feature letterboxd doesn't have that should be pretty nifty...

Babadook was good. I wonder if with these kind of films it's the set-up that creates such a large difference of opinion. The sound design was superb and really effective, I can absolutely see that the impact would be lost on a small screen and with a 2.0 or bad sound set up.
