And it's monday is about $40m which is at least as insane. This movie is a fucking beast, people not following box office are missing out.

Batman vs Superman.

Maybe but we're talking about important records here that don't involve swindling thirdworlders

Jurassic World fell off a cliff after that first weekend.

What do you mean?

most movies do
>>
I really hope this tops Avatar. I want to see James Cameron cry.
>>
>>63954154
You know, selling them a gimmick in the guise of an unmissable experience
>>
>>63954170

But is fucking Disney any better?
>>
>>63954014
I watch about 10 movies per month, and I haven't seen any of the movies listed in OP's pic, except for Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises, and Jurassic World (which I only watch because I was with a group and it's what they wanna watch). And I don't plan on watching them any time soon. I guess I'm not a mainstream movie watcher.
>>
Inflation and the price of movie tickets will raise to the point where this won't be much of a spectacle rather soon.

If you take inflation into account, I'm pretty sure Gone With the Wind still holds the highest box office award
>>
>>63954176
It was an unmissable experience.

That is why people went back for seconds and thirds. They won't for star wars.

That is why Avatar shall remain the number 1 movie that changed cinema forever.
>>
>>63954201
Yes avatar was a forgettable remake of Dances with Wolves.
>>
The new harry potter reboot is coming out sooner than that.
>>
>>63954214
Yes, not opening weekend though, this is literally the highest attended movie of all time on the OP
>>
>>63954217
>It was an unmissable experience.

I literally regret spending $8 to see Avatar. Avatar sold well only because it was riding on 3D gimmick wave.
>>
>>63954214
>this won't be much of a spectacle rather soon

it stopped when Avatar did it, now they producers use it as bragging rights to lure more people to see the movies

>>63954230

Every single person in my group I went with wanted to see it again.

I wouldn't mind seeing it again. People are definitely going to keep seeing it.

>>63954243
It was also much better than the force awakens.

Yes Avatar was garbage and didn't even look half as good as it was made out to be which is sad since that was its entire fucking selling point and Titanic was a fucking glorified recreation of something that I don't even know why anyway cared about back then. Ohh a boat crashed and a couple of people liked each other on that boat. Terrible.

Rian is going to make a GOAT Star Wars film.

Then Trevorrow is going to cuck things up as usual
>>
>>63954217
>It was an unmissable experience.
I literally saw it once and I don't remember a single thing about it. Hell I can't even remember any of the characters names off the top of my head.
Avatar is the definition of mediocre
>>
>>63954337
Severe memory loss is an indicator of Parkinsons, kid.

Get yourself checked out.
>>
>>63954308

>Why would you want to watch a fun, adventurous, light-hearted romp through the star wars universe again?

I'm not saying it's citizen Kane autist, but it's solid and enjoyable nonetheless.
>>
>>63954217

I've seen Star Wars twice already.

Will probably see it 5 or 6 times with different people when it's all said and done. I know several people who are going to repeat showings.

More like a few months until Civil War comes out and crushes it
>>
>>63954431

Nah, I think people have a bit of MCU fatigue. It'll be big, but not Star Wars reboot big.

That moment when you want to go see Star Wars again, but you have to study every possible moment of your day sobyou dont fucking flunk

After two fucking Avengers movie there's no way anyone is going to give that much of a shit. When is this coming out anyway? First quarter of 2016? It's almost like they know it's going to fail.

January - March is where movies go to die.

And it became the 3rd highest grossing film.
>>
Anyone notice how they go by money amounts, rather than number of tickets?

Back when ANH came out tickets were probably less than $2. Now they are $10 or higher. If you make ticket prices 5x+ more (and rise every year) wouldn't every subsequent blockbuster beat previous records?
>>
>>63954014
It's still a flop. It's not even in the Top 50 highest grossing films of all time.
>>
you ever heard of James Cameron op?

You do realize that there are plenty of lists that account for inflation, right?
I thought literally everyone knew this.
