Nothing Rey does is really all that "Mary Sueish". Star Wars fights aren't just about skill they're about opening oneself to the Force. That's how Luke outshot and outflew Vader and destroyed the Death Star despite it being impossible. Rey defeats Ren because she opened herself up to the force while Ren is closing himself up and being overwhelmed by his emotions.

- On Maz's outpost she neglects to heed Maz's advice and ends up getting captured, kicking off a chain of events that gets Han Solo killed
- In the above she presents Kylo with the opportunity to learn she's seen the map
- without a light saber she confronts Ren before being thrown into a tree. She remains unconscious long enough for Finn to be seriously injured.
- She does POORLY in the light saber duel until she embraces the Force, while simultaneously Ren has an existential crisis after being physically injured

The fucking force thing is something not easily done because it's reserved for characters who are SPECIAL. And Rey is this series' Luke and Anakin. Her comeback against Ren is her equivalent to Luke blowing up the Death Star and Anakin destroying the separatist ship.
And that's ignoring the fact that Ren isn't on the level of Vader and the story makes this fucking clear. He's closed off and conflicted about what he is. His lightsaber is a hastily constructed piece of shit. And that's not even taking into account how the force in the movies has never been portrayed as a fucking RPG "you must grind X experience to use force choke" affair. Your power is a relationship between you and the Force and how much you accept it and let it into you.
