Where were you when /tv/ ruined any last shred of credibility it ever had by pretending the prequels were good JUST to be contrarian?

Pretty sure it's disney reputation managers since the boards getting a lot of outside traffic right now.
If you use the word "contrarian," you're literally an idiot. It's a concept invented by idiots with reddit sensibilities who are too fragile to deal with criticism of mediocre media that has widespread appeal.
It's a troubling manifestation of millennials' mental weakness. Seriously, the only people who would even entertain any "argument" involving the concept of being "contrarian" are weak, lazy idiots who can't deal with criticism substantively.
If it bothers you that much that people criticize mediocre mass-marketed work designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator, like Star Wars, Breaking Bad, pop music, etc., you should find a safe bubble and stay there. Or kill yourself.

It was ruined by this shit franchise taking over the board, not the gay disputes within.

An anonymous imageboard is the 2nd worst way to debate anything with any kind of serious intent, the first worst being a highly controlled and majority policed hug-box like reddit.
Also you're missing the point. You can criticize the hell out of the new star wars movie just like you can any other big dumb blockbuster by finding faults in its writing, direction, cinematography, acting, script, ideas, etc... but that's not what people are doing. People are going back to big dumb blockbusters from over a decade ago that have already been picked to pieces and parading them around like they are suddenly problem-free because they can't form coherent arguments about why this new film is bad. It's not logical, purposeful criticism, it's infantile children channeling their confusion and inability to articulate arguments into shitty half-thoughts and group-think nonsense.
Also contrarian was a word before millennials were a thing.
