this is a comfy as fuark episode. whats wrong with you. and holodeck episodes are supposed to be pointless, its a plot device to have nonsensical stories, same as treehouse of horror
>>63939212
I think they're comfy. You know nothing important is going to happen, you get to see different sets, other aspects of characters' personalities, and so on.
>>63939330
>tfw you will never enjoy a relaxing session of "Program Loli Rape 01" in the holodeck after a hard day of work.

>>63939551
>implying you have to be autistic to be ambivalent to that blonde
>I think the "baseball episode" is one of the worst DS9 episodes
I watched Next Generation with my dad as a kid, but remember none of it.
Where should I start with Star Trek?
I'm aware that at the beginning probably sounds the most logical, but I don't know how well it holds up nor do I know how linked the series are.
>>63939795
Ideally, start with TOS. But a lot of today's audience isn't used to the older standards for TV, so it can be off putting.
Other than this, TNG.start with season 1 and never listen to the fags who will tell you to pick up at season 3. Don't be that guy
>>63939795
>>63939795
The Original Series still holds up pretty well, just ignore season 3.
>>63939795
wikipedia has a brief description of every episode, use this to determine which you should watch.
>>63939620
I'll make the necessary changes for the next time I post that. Thanks anon.
Also I have always wondered if pedos are accepted in the Star Trek universe. Considering they haven't cured homosexuality in the future I always thought w- I mean they are still around.
>>63939866
Watching TOS start to finish is a right of passage. Plebs who can't into Kirk Spock McCoy don't deserve to call themselves real trek fans.
>>63938339
Not while The outrageous Okana still exists
>>63939883
Picard was bald because "it didn't matter in the future, people saw nothing wrong with it"
That birthright episode with Data and Worf trying to find answers about their fathers. The two plot lines had nothing to do with each other and never collide in a way that works. Generally that's my problem with TNG is that sometimes it'll have two parallel stories but they never intersect once to make the pay offs more interesting.
Part 2 had nothing to do with Data so I don't know why these weren't just two seperate episodes other than maybe Worf's segmented needing 10 extra minutes.
>>63939918
Fuck you I like that one. At least the acting and characterizations in Okana make sense, unlike Subrosa, where even Picard acts out of character.
What's your favorite episode?
I thought this one was crazy good. It was scary to think all your memories are gone and you have to piece together who everyone on board is, and to have the ship be basically used as a weapon by some outside force for its own desires is terrifying
It's got everything you want in a TNG episode
"Commander, tell me about your sexual organs."
>>63938565
is that the ep that was ghost written by anne rice where crusher is eaten out by a ghost that also fucked her grandmother?
>>63939913
Yes. But it's not the best entry point now. Slower pace, "campy" effects and such can be a turnoff for audiences used modern TV.
That said, the main trio has the best dynamic seen in any TV show. It works too damn well.

Problem is that season 1 of TNG is also dated as fuck and starts with a bunch of terrible episodes. There's no obvious way to start off with Trek.
>>63940096
I agree it's an acquired taste. However it is still essential viewing, especially before voyager or enterprise. Ds9 and TNG can be watched first but I think the sooner someone is exposed to TOS the better.
>>63939869

Its only 'worse' if you cant get around all the 'aliens' being black and take the episode as some racist one, which it wasnt trying to be. sub rosa is truly the worst TNG episode
>>63940437
The interesting thing about TOS is that each season kinda feels like its own show. Season 1 has all the headier, heavier sci-fi episodes. Season 2 has all the fun, action-filled more campy episodes. Season 3 feels if not bad then mostly generic and forgettable.
>>63940006
I don't know the consensus on this episode other than it probably pissed off a lot of people when it came to Yar's obvious contract death.
But I thought this was a pretty good god episode in which the only thing saving the crew's lives is that he's so fucking bored that killing them would end his fun. They could only get to him through moral discussions and digging at insecurities. I just enjoyed the initial mystery of the edgey darkness behind this thing overall.
>>63940564
They specifically compare the code of honor aliens' culture to that of ancient China in the episode too, but people dont remember this because it's easier to spam cuckshit.
>>63938339
No, it's at dumb Enterprise episode where they try to find out Malcolm's favourite flavour for a cake but he doesn't have one. In the end they give him pineapple because he needs it to not die or something. That's all that happens.

The episode was intended to save money at the end of the season by being a bottle episode which featured few additional characters.[3] The only guest star was Colm Meaney as recurring character Chief Miles O'Brien.[4] The reason was that the show had overspent on the episodes "Elementary, Dear Data" and "Q Who", and Paramount Studios was holding the series to their overall season budget.

Seriously though.
I didn't find klingon that interesting for the most part. Most of the time, they are pretty much just space barbarians using honor to justify everything and bring up traditions to make some easy "ethical" conflicts we've all seen or read a dozen time. It's not until late DS9 that they got more interesting and started to show some potential.
They again, that could be said about most aliens in Star Trek. Klingons are just often put under the spotlight in several shows.
I still wish we had more opportunities to see the romulans and learn things about them aside from "they are spock's evil cousins"

"I thought that, while Kate [Mulgrew]'s performance in the episode was, at certain points, a wonderful comic performance, I think that there was a mistake either in the performance choices or in the direction of it," Biller criticized. "Captain Janeway playing Queen Arachnia made sense, up to a certain point. There was a point at which, clearly, she had gotten what she needed to get. For some odd and, I thought, unexplained reason, she continued to assume this role, as opposed to being Captain Janeway wearing the costume, finishing up the mission. Imagine Picard's reaction if he'd realized they'd fucked up first contact with a new type of lifeform and killed 50 of their people. He wouldn't have gone along with that bullshit or let any of the crew crack jokes about it.
