I was watching Empire earlier today and Luke's motivation is making a little more sense.
Yoda and Obi-Wan both repeatedly warn Luke not to intervene on Cloud City. Yoda even tells him going will "destroy everything your friends have fought for", but he does it anyway. And when he gets there, EVERYTHING gets fucked up. Then he gets his shit pushed in by Vader.
After that, he's a little wiser, more controlled. He realizes how important he is in Jedi and how much his presence can alter a situation - usually for the worse.
I imagine after trying to train a bunch of kids only to have the one you're closest to murder the rest and betray you, you'd be hesitant to get involved with galactic politics again. Him going into hiding makes sense given the circumstances and is also a logical place to take his character.

I didn't get that takeaway at all. I'm 99% sure he is a super weak force user. He obviously discovered this during his training with Luke and wasn't satisfied with it. He idealized his grandfather and probably by an extension Luke. He wants more power so that is why he joins the dark side but even then he is middle tier at best. That is why Rey is still able to beat him because she is naturally a strong force user, while even with his buffs, he still isn't very powerful. This theme will continue in the other movies. Rey beating him in the force mind reading may have even pushed him over the edge and caused him to murder Han in his quest for more power.

The novelizations makes it clear Kylo is very strong, but not as strong as he dreams to be (Vader level). He might become that one day, but he is impatient. Snoke seduced him by promising unlimited powaaah fast and easy.
Also, one of the things messing with his Force use and control is his inner conflict and Light Side pull (Vader helmet scene). Ironic, most Jedi are tempted by the Dark Side, while Kylo Ren is tempted by the Light.
Now that Han is kill, Kylo is finally free to embrace the Dark Side fully. He will be much more powerful in Episode 8.

This causes enmity between races or classes while providing a platform for these manipulators, through the old rhetoric of egalitarianism, to create programs that benefit themselves in the guise of "doing good" for the minority or downtrodden.
While, some people are indeed well meaning most of them aren't able to either recognize or cope with the fact that the ideas they push for are unsuccessful and even destructive (welfare, minimum wage, affirmative action etc.). Furthermore these people are continuously fed more rhetoric by the "elite" groups (businesspersons e.g. bankers, cartels, politicians and community leaders e.g. Jesse Jackson, BLM, Green Party) to continue pushing for these policies.

The Force Awakens is really part 1 of a Final Fantasy 7 adaptation.
No. He knew something like starkiller base was being built and that he'd be a danger to any system he was in. He was also able to save Rey,his daughterfrom the plot to kill the jedi by having Han leave her on Jakku.
He left instructions with R2 to shut the fuck up until confirmation that the danger had passed, which R2 did immediately after the cannon was destroyed.
By leaving the map pieces where he did, he controlled when he would be found without endangering anyone else. Seems pretty cool to me.
