ITT movies target specifically at the Star Wars audience

Whatever happened to movies that invoked wonder and idealism? I saw this film on TBS back in 1998 as a kid and loved it more than Star Wars. The trailers and OST really sell the sense of awe and adventure.
We want the prequels audience
Hoping for a reboot of The Last Starfighter
Literally budget choice of Star Wars

looks really similar to Star Wars. Is it watchable?
>>63934011
Nope. Star Trek: The Motion Picture is extremely slow and has very little action. It's pretty much 2001 A Space Odyssey: Star Trek Edition.

Aside from having David Hasselhoff in a golden cape, it's pure shit.

This movie is awesome.

Michael Eisner.

In the mid 1970s, they were going to bring Star Trek back as a TV show, called "Star Trek: Phase II".
Then Star Wars A New Hope opened in 1977, and Paramount stopped production on the Trek Phase II TV show and decided to make Star Trek The Motion Picture instead, BECAUSE OF THE SUCCESS OF STAR WARS.
They made a different movie than Star Wars, but they were going after the Star Wars audience, obviously, as the OP stated.

I'm so pissed the sequels weren't named Fragon and Gragon.

A better world where science fiction could be slow and kind of boring.

Does that spaceship have breasts?

looks kinda interesting.

thanks

>implying a movie needs anything besides the Hoff in a gold cape
>>63934879
Everything else is pretty bad, except moments with stuff like
>torpedos crashing through the glass bay of a spaceship, only to reveal that each has a soldier in cardboard armor inside
>Based Dave waves his cape arround
>fucking golden cape MATCHES HIS HAIR COLOUR
>that overdramatic delivery
Every scene he is in is golden. Literally and figuratively.
