This movie literally had so, so many practical effects. There were all so good I bet you just thought they were CGI. The only scenes or things in this movie that are CGI are the things that almost -have- to be. That scene in Maz Kanata's castle reminds me of Mos Eisley so, so much. Literally all of the aliens except for Maz there are a practical.
And the CGI isn't shit, dude, it's from ILM, it's just that there's so many practical effects the CGI ones stick out.
