What the fuck did I just watch?
>>
The bear scene was really well done. Not sure why /tv/ is shitting on it; well probably for that exact reason...
>>
What did you just watch?
You just watched the Movie of the year.

>one scene makes up for a whole movie of silence
>>
This honestly didn't feel like a traditional film. It seemed to go beyond the film as art classification and instead presented us with the experiences of people and their shared experiences.

It was still way too long tho
>>
>>63918515

I cannot think of a single movie in the last 2 years that /tv/ didn't shit on. This what /tv/ does to pretend they are smarter and more patrician than the average "normie".
>>
>>63918273
A solid revenge flick, with some forced dream sequences and a pretty cinematography.
>>

Just finished it. Great film by Inarritu. It's not perfect, but still a very stylish and well made film all around.

Something tells me this isn't going to do too well at the box office though. Also doubtful Leo will get his oscar.
>>
>>63920685
>>63920685
Tom Hardy would get it before Leo.
>>
I just finished it. Thought it was really well done, just a gorgeous fucking movie. The son and lost indian girl subplots just didn't work in my opinion but it didn't take away from the overall experience too much, and Tom Hardy makes every movie better so it evened out.
>>
>>63920784
the son and indian girl plots are there to give them their motivations, it's a very simple plot

The cinematography for this was fantastic, and when your film mostly consists of an injured guy walking through the wilderness alone, it's going to need to pick up the slack. It's crazy what lengths were taken to shot this film, apparently most of it was shot using natural light. The Indian attack at the beginning was a great start to a well shot movie, and I'm willing to gloss over most of the bad parts for the cinematography alone.

>Means something to who? You had a career before the third comic book movie, before people began to forget who was inside the bird costume. You're doing a play based on a book that was written 60 years ago, for a thousand rich old white people whose only real concern is gonna be where they go to have their cake and coffee when it's over. And let's face it, Dad, it's not for the sake of art. It's because you want to feel relevant again. Well, there's a whole world out there where people fight to be relevant every day. And you act like it doesn't even exist! Things are happening in a place that you willfully ignore, a place that has already forgotten you. I mean, who the fuck are you? You hate bloggers. You make fun of Twitter. You don't even have a Facebook page. You're the one who doesn't exist. You're doing this because you're scared to death, like the rest of us, that you don't matter. And you know what? You're right. You don't. It's not important. You're not important. Get used to it.
>>
>>63921139
In all fairness, Hardy only slipped into Bane's voice once or twice.
>>
>>63921251

it's like /pol/tards aren't aware that people are just shitty in general, especially in times that enable such shitty behavior. And they'd also willingly ignore that mountain men and trappers like Glass regularly banged and made wives out of Indian qts because, well, out in the bush it was either bang one of your buddies, or your hand, or make do with whatever else you got. As far as "muh noble savage" goes, theres capacity for good and evil in everyone, that much should be apparent from Hardy's character.

I bet you think Leone films suck as well, you faggot.
>>
That shit was so gorgeous that even a shitty DVD screener managed to look fantastic.

It's weird, though. They kept going on about all the natural lighting and being on location, yet used CGI liberally at certain points. Really my only complaint.

A 2/10 movie.

"The Revenant" is phenomenally terrible. Like, I knew that Inarritu is a bad director, but I thought maybe this movie could work, with a simple story and such great cinematography. Except Inarritu did literally everything wrong, from the cheesy and unbelievable B-movie screenplay to the disappointing lack of suspense or any kind of grippiness in the scenes where Leo DiCaprio "survives" on his own due to there being cuts every 30 seconds to other characters or to Leo himself at a rapidly progressed point.
>>
>Leo keeps surviving all the ridiculous shit

My biggest gripe was when he fell off the cliff. Everything up to there, sure, whatever. Maybe he dried off and survived hypothermia after being in the river, maybe the bear didn't crush every bone in his body, maybe all his wounds didn't get infected and he didn't get gangrene.

But he fucking fell off like a 50 foot cliff and his wounds miraculously DIDN'T all reopen and his bones somehow didn't break and he was able to get up and sleep inside a horse. All of this happens after avoiding getting hit ONCE by like 15 chasing indians, all shooting at him.

That shit was stupid.

One of my favorite movies of the year.

no.

>>63936639
Well he fell into the tree so the branches broke his fall.
>>
Inarritu has done it again, proving he is without a doubt the best director alive.

He might end with a minimum of 10 academy best director awards when he done making movies.

Any decent subs out? English.

i never thought a movie this long could have a plotline so shoddily shoehorned in

the whole indian daughter thing was pointless and stupid and only exists to have a way to get the flash back to the camp so they know leo is alive

Aren't these more aggressively watermarked and/or signed though?

Underrated.

He rode down on the horse and jumped off just before it hit the ground.

i vaguely remember people shitting on it like a month ago

I liked it a lot.
My only problem was Tom Hardy doing his Bane voice sometimes and the floating wife of Glass was really cheesy.

If you've ever been on gif or /b/ gore threads you'd see some bear shit, and that scene in the film was incredibly fucking accurate to how a bear fucks with its prey, especially humans.

They will literally toy with you for 5+ minutes and eat you alive.
>>
>mfw watching this movie in alberta with the comfort of kraft dinner.
>That bear scene was terrifying.

I was waiting for it to bite his face off. And god damn leo was like the fucking terminator, nothing would stop him from his revenge.
