I was watching Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth the other day and really enjoyed it - maybe the overacting of the corporate bad guys made it more fun than it would have been otherwise. The singing of the fairies seemed to go on forever though. Mothra and Battra teaming up together was very cute though.
I haven't watched any Showa-era stuff except for the original Gojira. I'd like to check out more since I've only really seen Heisei Kaiju stuff. Hopefully my older brother remembers how that Godzilla classic collection was on my wish list...
Of what I've seen I think my favorite might be Vs. Destoroyah. Great changing enemy, nice scenes of military vs. Goji, supah cross-sree, and Destoroyah being a total cunt.

Biollante's design was really one of the best that Toho had done in years - especially having multiple forms throughout the movie. Having a stationary enemy was also a really novel take on the Godzilla enemy roster.
The original Heisei designs are all quite good... well, I'm half/half on SpaceGodzilla.
The arab terrorist stepping on the cartoon button to "boop" himself out of existence was a pretty disappointing finale in the movie.

Favourite has to be original Godzilla, followed by Pacific Rim, but they're very different.
Also GMK, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, Gamera Attack of Legion, Rodan and Terror of Mechagodzilla.
