Even as a kid i was none of those.
The first SW character that i could say as a favorite or something was ep1 obi wan.
I was all in for the force and lightsaber jedi sith shit but i didnt find luke or especially Vader cool.
Despite growing up on OT then PT i am way more attached to TOR era characters.
After rewatching the entire saga i liked Kenobi in PT and Solo in OT the most.

Luke was some whiny teenage that lived a fairly sheltered life, Rey has had to fend for herself basically her entire life. And the force in general seems to be stronger in these movies. Kylo's command over it was impressive, even though he's still lacking in training and can barely control his emotions/duel. Not to mention Anakin was doing wild shit at an even younger age, like building his own robot, podracing, etc. Rey's abilities aren't a problem at all.

It wasn't ruined, it was a sensible decision. The scene carried more impact/meaning because we already knew it was his son. If they had kept it secret and revealed it during that scene we would have had like one minute of surprise before the shock ofHan being killed.

I think the Knights of Ren are all former students of Luke who were persuaded by Snoke, an ancient alien aligned to the dark side, to join the dark side.
They're all still training under Snoke with Kylo being the most proficient student which is why he's allowed to be on the front line.
I think we'll see a few of them in the sequel but in that image where they're all in the rain, they've just slaughtered other students who were unwilling to join them and members of the church Max Von Sydows character was a member of, which is why Luke sent him to Jakku to watch over Rey.

Knight's of Ren are a few students who decided to follow Snoke when he convinced them to destroy the ongoing jedi training, killing the ones who opposed. Luke, upset that he has failed as a teacher puts it all on Han and Leia's son, who was forced onto Luke for training when he tried to refuse because he could see the darkness within him. It's an even bigger twist when you realize that Kylowas actually saving Rey from certain death during that flashback sequence with the knights of Ren. A jedi academy student was going to off her with a machete before he comes in and stabs the guy with his lightsaber
He's the one who sent her to Jakku, that's why gets all enraged when the First Order informs him that a girl is one of the suspects carrying around the droid and the plans. He also knows what she's capable of, which is why she tells the stormtroopers to find her as quickly as possible as possible after her escape.
On the other hand the cover agent shit doesn't make sense because it goes against his little talk-to-talk with Vader's helmet about the temptations of the light side.
