I'm pretty buttblasted about them basically rebooting everything in TFA. Basically made Luke's whole arc pretty pointless. Jedi got wiped again, Empire's basically back. All because they needed to play it as safe as possible by creating a resequel instead of an original plot where the story has moved appreciably forward.

The Dark Side is a corruption of the force because it's wielders twist the Force in unnatural ways to suit their needs. Instead of letting it take its natural course. For a hippy analogy, the Dark Side is pollution and the Force would be like an idyllic fresh water spring or something. For that spring to be considered healthy and balanced it would need to be free of pollution. And if it is polluted it ruins the balance by making it more difficult for life to flourish let alone sustain itself. Which seems to be what the Force is all about, the preservation and propagation of life. Get what I'm saying?
