the music really does set the overall mood of the show, it's really interesting, i can't think of anything quite like it
if they went down the boardwalk empire route and only used music written during that era, it would be fucking awful. i can't even picture this show having orchestral music, it just wouldn't work

Loved season 1, and didn't want to start watching this new one while not all the episodes were out.
The season finale was a fucking cop out, ruined the whole series for me.
