The entire appeal of the EU (and 'NeoEU', I suppose) is that it exists beyond what we see in the movies. I'd never expect my favourite EU characters to show up in the films, and I wouldn't want them to. They'd confuse casual audiences and bog the movie down with supporting character clutter.
