>Isn't even beating Jurassic World's daily box office numbers
But aren't Jurassic World's box office numbers fucking ridiculously massive?
Hardly a failure if its still getting up there.
Besides, star wars has much more merchandise potential. Its all to sell toys senpai
>>63875839
Disney said they needed TFA to make $1.5 billion to be profitable after the amount they paid to get SW. It won't even get half that at this rate.
>>63876037
it already got half of it
>>63875839
>ignoring the friday numbers
>>63875839
They're both shit movies you faggot.
>>63875839
>people thought it would beat Avatar
Who? all i heard is how it wouldn't beat Avatar
Whether or not the movie can meet Disney's expectations. The merchandise will sell billions.
Disney jews literally on suicide wat- oh wait

This is called eating crow, ladies and gentlemen.
Eating crow.
>>63876445
Yeah, this OP has to be intentionally shitposting. I'm not even a Star Wars fan and I know this will shatter records. It's fucking Star Wars.
>>63876037
That's just the domestic bait in the picture, you nincompoop.
>>63876037
It already did you fucktard
I don't even care if OP's numbers are right. But obviously if you start with a higher amount, the drop to the same amount will look bigger.
>Movie A sells 100 tickets, the next day it sells only 60.
>Movie B sells 80 tickets, the next day it sells only 60.
>SEE GUYS a IS FLOPPING AND SELLING 40% LESS WHEREAS B ONLY DROPPPED 25% FLOP OF THE CENTURYYY
But you add both amounts and A is beating B
>>63875839
Abatap wins again
0/10 Cry more
>>63875839
no OP you are wrong

are you people literally retarded?
the only reason star wars made more is because of the 57 million on first day

MERCHANDISING!
>>63876037
It's already at 500 million with Weekend estimates for both foreign and domestic
>>63877300
just the relatively small amount Star Wars is making overseas makes beating Avatar impossible.

>Movie hasn't even opened in China yet
I don't know why it's opening so late there. Why would they do that?
>>63876445
>3rd biggest opening
is this supposed to be impressive.? avatar 2 will blow this apart
>>63875839
Jurassic World was a better movie tbqh
>>63878181
>avatar 2 will blow this apart
no one gives two shits about the avatar franchise, it's nothing compared to star wars.
>>63875839
>movie will makes a billion dollars
>/tv/ considers the movie a failure because it doesn't become 1# all time box office earner
How much of it actually goes to Disney after theater and tax expanses?
>>63878291
its quite clear the international audience resonated with avatar much more than star wars. even jurassic world did better. so youre pretty much wrong.
>>63878291
>star wars fanbabby cannot see the obvious truth
Why are all Star Wars fans retarded?
>>63877300
jurrasic world opening friday included its pre-opening thursday

TFA must literally send an usher to punch you in the dick repeatedly because JW was one of the worst blockbusters I've seen, and that's saying a lot.
>>63878425
You must've missed movies like transformers 2-4, 2012, etc.
Jurassic world at least didn't rehash 50% of another movie (it did rehash like 30% though) and don't literally start pulling stuff out of its ass
>>63878009
>Oh its the "nobody watches Star Wars outside America" may may
>>63878521
Correction: I rex had a lot of ass pulls, but rey and her mind trick was worse than anything that dinosaur did
>>63878526
Both Harry Potter and Jurassic World did better than it, for it being so hyped. It's popular but not that popular and compared to Avatar which is the highest grossing movie internationally without any peers, it's not unreasonable to consider that Star Wars is nothing but a drop in the sea compared to Avatar.
>>63878181
Avatar did so well because people wanted to see the "Amazing" special effects and "groundbreaking 3D". They're not gonna be able to capture that feeling again. No one cares about 3D anymore, special effects aren't a big deal
>>63878339
Theaters make less than 5% of a film's earnings, the rest go back to Hollywood. That amount goes down as the film is out for longer and longer
That's why theaters push concessions so much. One 5 dollar popcorn makes them more than 3 or 4 ticket sales
A theater back in the town I used to live in had a rewards program: 30 points earns you a free movie ticket, but movies were worth 1 point (i.e you needed to see 30 movies) and concessions were worth 5. That alone shows how little theaters make on the movies themselves

>>63878181
>avatar 2 will blow this apart
People still believe that it will ever be released?
>>63876819
It's not the same amount. The percentage drop is irrelevant. TFA is making LESS money per-day than Jurassic World, aside from its opening Friday which was bolstered by "midnight" screenings on Thursday which were really screening from 6pm onwards. When you think about how marketed and hyped this movie has been and how it's playing round-the-clock in many theatres because of Disney's aggressive tactics, it's really unimpressive.
>>63878526
It's true. Star wars is certainly successful outside of the USA, but does absolutely nowhere near as good as it does in the states. The prequels barely made 50% of their gross overseas, which is pathetic for an early 2000s series of movies.
>>63875839
>it hasn't even opened in China
K senpai

Those are domestic-only numbers m8 ;)

I live in Balkans. In my town there is only one cinema, and there for the first time ever, it held midnight screening of the movie (force awakens), december 17th 00:01. I always thought myself as one of rare SW fans. Turns out I was dead wrong.
Biggest screening room, 400 seats, packed full. There was eaven applause on several occasions. It was strange and amazing at the same time.
Turns out that my move place had to make additional two screenings a day (6 instead of 4), and it had to take additional, second biggest screening room (150 seats) just for Force awakens, because move is sold out for next whole week.
I saw all the prequels in same place, it was nowhere near those numbers, I don't think people eaven knew about it. You can't compare prequels that have bed rep, from the start, with Force awakens that has huge hype.
And if there are sold out tickers in my town, I can only imagine how the movie stands in rest of Europe.
Im not saying it will beat Avatar, or Jurrasic world, I don't eaven care for that. But to say Star Wars is not big, really big outside USA, that is just wrong.
