Watch it for social commentary. I expected more entertainment and was thus disappointed.

Alejandro was operator was fuark.

There were a lot of really gorgeous shots, especially that part where they walk into the tunnel as the sun goes down. The soundtrack was probably the most dread-filled thing I've ever heard, that song that plays when they're driving into Juarez was just terrifying.

Aside from those, though, it didn't really do anything interesting. The social commentary angle was just "the drug war is bad and so are the people running it", which isn't exactly news. And the entire subplot with the police guy should have been removed, it added nothing but a failed attempt to tug some heartstrings.

Still, one of the better films this year, for the wonderful camerawork and soundtrack alone.

The road warrior and the original were great movies but that has nothing to do with the thread.
>>
>>63868210

You need to watch more films. Beasts of No Nation had a similar theme but was way better, and the Revenant is probably MOTY.
>>
>>63868210
It needed more action. That while bridge scene should have been a heat esque shootout and t would have propelled the film into greater lime light.

Still a great film. Can only assume how shitty and dangerous filming in 3rd world spic land with a whole cast of pretend operators fighting with unloaded guns would have been. Not to mention Blunt shitting her pants in every take.
>>
>>63868444
it's not boring because it's too clever or deep, it's boring because it's literally 5 sequences stretched over the length of a film.

>drug den
>driving into Mexico and back tensely
>someone tries to kill the main character
>Donald Trump's wall
>lmao just kidding the protagonist is the guy with no lines

conclusion: the war on drugs sure is complicated seriously that's it we got nothing :^)

I agree with you agreeing to them.
I watched today and it was great, just needed her to either die or shoot him at the end for prestige tier

>Beasts of No Nation had a similar theme
How the fuck?
They are completely different movies, and BoNN is an inferior movie even on its own.
>>
>>63868650

It was not a great film.

The whole point of the movie was to show how out of control the drug war is, but there was barely any action or shocking scenes outside of the first half hour, black character was a waste of screen time, Del Toro becomes 007 in the last 10 minutes. It was just ok overall and probably wont be remembered.
>>
I enjoyed Incendies more
>>
Last scene was too short and not tense enough tobeh, they did the border crossing scenes perfect, but they fucked this up
>>
>>63868751
dude it came out like 5 years ago
>>
>>63868785
Yeah, I was just referring to Villeneuve's filmography, not this year's movies.
>>
>>63868725

They are not completely different, both movies give us a window into the madness of war through the main character. Beasts just did a much better job of it. Sicario went to shit halfway through with the black guy showing up again, the bad guy at the bar and Alejandro doing Mission Impossible.

>BoNN is an inferior movie even on its own.

Nah I think the whole point of him getting away was that it was a morally fucked situation and she had to choose the lesser of two evils despite her best instincts.

Well you'll be wrong, since it comes out on December 30th, like it says on the poster.

So what were the guys doing that was wrong?

Why did they need the girl to sign the thing saying everything they did was by the book?
>>

From what I gathered, they couldn't operate across the border without approval and participation of the Justice Department. Her being there was nothing but a rubber stamp for the operations. Liked it, but it fell right the fuck apart in the last act. Agree about that amazing soundtrack.
