I put a map leading to where I was on R2, and put him in sleep mode, but then I removed the part of the map that showed my location. That part of the map I put on a USB drive and sent it to a friend who also lived on Jakku and told him to give it to the resistance. I was very careful not to tell him that my daughter, that I abandoned, was living a twenty minute drive away from him just two towns over so that he could give her some money or food or even just provide some companionship which might have alleviated the crushing loneliness which was her permanent state. He was a good friend.

Yeah I thought about this, but there are a few problems with it. It means Kylo would have had to have spared her when him and the Knights of Ren killed everyone at the Skywalker Acadamy and then kidnapped her and taken her to Jakku. First off when Luke got back and found his wife dead and his 5 year old daughter missing he would have gone and found her. He would have known she was still alive. He would have used the force and he would have sensed where she was. Then he would have gone and rescued her.
Also, when Kylo meets Rey he doesn't recognize her, unless he is pretending. And when he talks to Snoke he also pretends he doesn't know her and just says that she's strong in the force but untrained.
Really it doesn't add up. She has to be Luke's daughter and Luke's wife left her there and then died at the academy. If this was a differnt story you could just write in that Luke thought she died at the acadamy and had no idea she was still alive, but the force makes that impossible, he's one of the strongest Jedi in history. He would have known she was still alive. He would have known where she was. It doesn't even make any fucking sense to hide her there when he could have just sent her to Leia, or to leave her without an Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. He left her with an asshole scrap dealer who didnt't give a fuck about her and used her as a slave on an frontier planet full of criminals, potential rapists and scum.

Also, the timeline between her and Kylo doesn't make any sense at all and I don't see how it can be resolved.
Ben Solo joins the Skywalker Academy, trains with Luke, eventually becomes evil and then wipes out everyone at the Academy. This is when Luke disappears and Rey's mom leaves her on Jakku and flies off in that ship, after which she presumably dies in the massacre at the academy which is why she never returns to get Rey, and why Rey sees the massacre in her force vision.
The problem is when this happens Rey is 5 years old. Kylo at the time he kills everyone at the academy has to be at least 20 years old, I mean look at the pic, he's no kid. Fifteen years go by, now Rey is about 20 years old, this is when The Force Awakens takes place, but by this math Kylo Ren has to be around 35 years old and probably pushing 40. Yet when they meet they are around the same age. This doesn't make sense and I don't see how it can be explained.

This actually would explain a lot... but the ages really don't like up. He wipes out the academy when she's five, which means he would have had to impregnate her mother six years earlier. Which means he would have had to have been at least 15 or 16. Wipes out the academy five years later when he's 21. Leaves her on Jakku for the next fifteen years. Now shes's 20, he should be 36, but the problem is he don't look 36. They look around the same age.
Other than that it's a great theory because it explains a lot. Ben Solo falls in love with a girl at the academy. They hide their forbidden love because they are both jedi and it's not allowed, the same way Annakin and Padme hid theirs. This deception starts them on the path to the dark side. They fall and become sith and found the Knights of Ren and wipe out the academy. Skywalker shows up and in a rage kills most of the Knights of Ren, including Rey's mother. Kylo escapes with Rey and leaves her on Jakku because he doesn't want to be reminded of what happened but can't bring himself to kill her. Luke is so remorseful over killing his former students that he goes into exile and cuts all contact with everyone. If this was true it would be his grandniece showing up at the island and Rey would eventually get a "No... I am your father" moment with Kylo.
It's good but he just looks too young for the timeline, that's the big problem.

Do we actually have any reason to believe this except for the EU which is explicitly stated as non-canon for this film? Luke's an inspirational hero who has imperfectly trained force skills, his main achievements are firing an accurate torpedo shot using the force, defeating Vader who didn't want to kill him, and reminding Vader what it looks like to be a good person. I'm really not convinced there is such a thing as 'godlike force powers' in this new movie. Even Snoke's powers can barely hold the First Order, who are largely consenting to being a part of the hierarchy anyways, together.

Kylo Ren is supposed to be 29-30 years old. This movie takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi, and Ren was supposed to be born basically right after the battle of Endor. Rey is supposed to be 19 years old. If she was 5 when the academy attack happened, Ren would have been 15-16 years old.
