Well, it's not Aliens, I'll tell you that. Aliens is the greatest sci-fi action film of all time, though it has horror elements and is the sequel to one of the greatest sci-fi horror films ever.
Between Alien and The Thing, though, I just can't choose. I love them both.

Alien is more Sci-Fi, The Thing is more horror. You could make the Thing into a magical creature and lose none of the terror, but the Alien is so horrifying because it's such a medically and scientifically charged nightmare. So, in that sense, Alien is a better sci-fi horror movie.
Aliens, meanwhile, is a sci-fi action thriller. Scary, but not a horror film.
