How did he win when darth maul had the high ground?
Different force disciplines work differently.

Obi wan wins whenever the high ground is in play, he doesn't necessarily have to be the one on it.
Obi-Wan's usage of high ground is unmatched.
Besides, High Ground is a Light Side Force capability, like how lightning is for the Dark Side. Only Sith who multiclass like Sheev are able to ape it.
>>63849150
Low ground privilege.
>>63849150
Mauls face had a moment of confusion,
It may have been that he forsaw his own death
It could be many force related aspects. But he definitely had the high ground
>>63849150
Still the best lightsaber battle put on film.
>>63849150
obi is a master of the low and high ground, he can only be defeated while on even ground.

Be he defeated Maul when he leaped up to his level and stabbed him.
How do you explain that?
>>63849150
What kind of designer makes force fields that shut off every ten seconds?
Why not just have one that can shut on and off?
Qui-Gon didn't have to die.
Also Obi-Wan is able to manipulate the High Ground from his view he had the high ground and Darth Maul was actually the equivalent of lying down, the weakest position know to Jedi.
>>63849150
All of Obi Wans wins come from uneven ground. When fighting on even ground he loses.
more choreography than the russian ballet
this shit was so awful
Why did you make a new thread for this when there are already a ton of existing Star Wars threads?
Please learn to use the catalog if you're going to post on /tv/.

Sure is /v/ here.

Yeah, best lightsaber battle ever. It has so much tension. :^)
omg fucking newfag shitposters
the reason obi wan famously exclaimed "i have the high ground" and the reason this is important is because he has a passive ability that gives him +100% dmg with highground and +100% defense without it. darth maul didnt know this but anakin should have
>>63849150
Why didn't he force pushed himself to pass through the shields faster?
>>63849150
Maul didn't have the "High Ground" trait slotted on his skill bar.
Rookie move.
>>63849629
Wouldn't that just make him a tank on the low grounds and a glass cannon on the high grounds? Doesn't seem like it wouldn't affect his power as much as affect the length of the battle.
>>63849150
Obi wan's power is 'from a certain point of view'
So from his point of view he has the high ground when he was hanging in the pit.
>>63849585
I'm talking about the choreography, fuck your storytelling.
He didn't win until he jumped over Maul, regaining the high ground.

I never complained that you were discussing movies. I just pointed out that there are existing threads about this that you could've posted in rather than make a new thread.
When you make a new thread, another thread dies. It's considered very poor form to make unnecessary threads on any board, and it's counter productive because if there's already a discussion going on in another thread, you'll get more attention from interested Anons by going where people have already gathered to talk about that subject.
I'm not sure what my comment had to do with /v/ but please try to keep the number of threads about the same subject to a minimum to allow the rest of the board to discuss other topics.

This.
Anakin tried to do the same but was cut short.

Obi Wan got even more high ground by jumping up very high.
You can see that Maul was surprised by this. He was thinking "how can this be: I have the high ground". But Obi gained even more high ground than he, and that is why he won.
>>63850269
It rhymes
>>63850269
>tfw Anakin learned from his mistake
If Obi-wan was so good then why did he fight like a pansy-ass bitch in ep IV?
Obi Wan is always on high ground from his point of view when the ground is uneven.
The same thing happened with Grievous
>>63851006
he was on even ground with vader

related
I think that Darth Maul did not take advantage of his high ground, which is why he lost. Obi-wan learned there the risk he took jumping, and the importance of having the high ground. His knowledge gained in this scene is why he defeated Anakin in the third movie.

HE HAD THE HIGH GROUND
its like poetry
>>63851185

how deep does the poetry go?
so why didn't anakin get the high ground when he jumped? did he not jump high enough?

the only sith counter is spinning, which he forgot to do

Hi, reddit. I can see this is your first big movie on /tv/. Now fuck on off back where you came from.
I assume the line of pottery Lucas originally meant to portray was Obi Wan knew how to counter Anakin as he had used the same move on Darth Maul himself, but somewhere Lucas got carried away with the high grounds.
>>63849314
He tricked Maul into believing that he was going to attack him from the high ground, so Maul wasn't prepared for an even ground strike
