Are any of Springsteen's other albums like this? Nebraska is one of the best albums I've heard but everything else seems like cheesy dad crap. I can enjoy some of his other work but it's not the same.

The Ghost of Tom Joad and Devils & Dust are both similar acoustic albums, but they're not quite as good. There's also the Seeger Sessions which is a cover album of activist folk songs.
I personally like his electric/band stuff too, but I can see it being cheesy for some.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that he wrote the song "Badlands" from Darkness on the Edge of Town after seeing the movie poster for the film, Badlands. And then he created Nebraska after actually watching the movie. So I would watch Badlands.

Darkness on the Edge of Town is absolutely crushingly beautiful. Go out for a nice long drive some night and listen to the whole thing a couple of times. His best album by far.
