I think he is perfect for the role personally, has a very strong but innocent boy scout look about him, Superman is a very composed character too which doesn't exactly require Oscar worthy acting.
Also the hairline thing is a meme, Superman has always that sort of hairline which is another reason why he is the man for the job.
