Anyone else get a massive amount of chills from Starkillet Base firing it's beam and Hux's speech before it?

For some reason, scenes where a great and powerful weapon is demonstrated always gets me. Seeing the inhabitants of that one planet shit themselves in fear before they're annihilated made it even more of a kick in the gut, more than Alderaan.
>>
Fuck off marketer
>>
I agree, when you ser that the beam is, like, the size of a continent it really shows how dangerous the weapon is.

Unfortunately while the scene itself is great there's zero aftermath which kind of undercuts it. It would be much better if, say, the Resistance were pinned down and we saw the Republic fleet on the way to save them, only to be blown up by the baddies.

It's another shoah!

How many bitcoins did you get for this post?
>>
no

yet another scene used just for visual impact and little actual sense behind it
>>
>light traveling that fast and be able to hit planets and be seen that far so fast

TOP KEK

Why did that jew make a borderlands movie? top kek and he couldnt even grt that right what a fucking idiot

THE GALAXY CALLS FOR WETWORK, AND WE ANSWER
>>

>Little actual sense
>Showing off what the superweapon is capable of
>Reaffirming the Nazi iconography that was established in the Empire
>Giving Hux a defining moment to show off his brutality
> Narrative parallels between Alderaan

You're retarded. That scene had a number of obvious purposes.
>>
>>63836065
so this super weapon was used only once.
>>
>>63835560
Yeah it was pretty gnarly.
>>
>>63836258
they were charging to fire again when the resistance attacks

Heil Hitler lads

It kind'a was. But JJ and whoever was responsible for cinematography fucked it up.
>>
>>63835560
What planets did they destroy again?
>>
>>63835560
it was sad because that city planet looked amazing. help we see another coruscant-like city in the next movie
>>
>>63835560
>it takes years for the laser to get anywhere
>the people on the planet see it from 10 years off
>everyone moves to another planet
>the laser destroys the planet but the base was taken out 10 years ago
why was reality forgotten about

JJ apparently loves destroying planets and then pretending you can see the results realtime and magnified from light years away.
>>
>>63837711
i dont think the planets were ever named

>>63837943
I can understand why the star trek fans hate him

Not Important planets
>>
>>63835913
if you saw the heroes seeing the blast delayed too much of the stupid audience would think they fired twice
>>
>>63837846
They hyperspaced the beam like an object, sort of like how they stopped one in its tracks earlier.
>>
how can they stand so close to ray that destroys planet like nothing being launched and not get burned to death like the trees did?
>>
>>63837988
He's a fucking hack that doesn't give a shit about source material. Whatever makes the most money and that means soulless pleb shit that appeals to the greatest amount of people. Oh and his white guilt forced diversity.
>>
>>63838064
>he doesn't give a shit about source material
actually he nailed star wars 10/10 with how well it was directed. only complaint from me is that it was too much of a rip off of a new hope.. but he didn't blow up tatooine so all good

Hosnian Prime, the new center for the Republic.
>>
>>63835560
This scene was uncomfortablely dark. I remember the music being really effective here, too.

it was the glib facsimile star system
>>
>>63838188
What was wrong with Courescant?
>>
>>63835913

They said it moved through hyperspace, and as for how they saw it so quickly, let's just assume they were in the same system(which was already seen to be very dense).
>>
>>63838424

In-story: They had to move the senate away from Coruscant to distance themselves from the Empire and the Old Republic.

Real reason: They didn't want to throw away such an important planet with little fanfare, and they also didn't want to reference the prequels.
>>
>>63835560
Is it really safe to stand so close to the beam? Their nazi rally was right next to the cannon and nobody was even sweating
>>
>>63837988
I didn't mind it, like what does it matter if Vulcan is destroyed in some alternate universe, they're doing something different. And unlike Kylo killing his father Han Solo, I didn't know that spoiler beforehand.
>>
>>63839232
>I didn't know that spoiler beforehand.
I didn't know it either dude. my chest got so tense when i saw it in the cinemas as I thought "REALLY!? THEY ACTUALLY DECIDED TO GO WITH DOING THIS??
