>>63828025
Gowron a shit
You are still FAT Kmpec.
>>63828025
Considering how the Klingons act I have no idea how they maintain a stable society on a level of the Klingon Empire.
On top of that they actually made peace with the Federation.
I mean you literally have to look at one of them wrong and they go to war with you just like that.
>>63828025
>why won't the next Trek series let us se what Martok would do with the Empire?
Because they'll try something like a Hard Reboot.
...But I don't know. CBS owns the rights for the TNG universe. They could do something like 100 years later.

>>63832827
They were stupid some times but they also were one of the most crucial races in the dominion war, far more than the Romulans.
DS9 writers thought process
If they're friends with worf then klingons are bros. bad ass galaxy ruling alliance
If worf doesn't know them. war soon! fuck shit up!
>>63828025
Because that old bitch was dishonorable as fuck and didn't lead shit.

Klingons have only gotten worse since TOS
>>63833511
Doesn't apply to any of Jadzia / Kurzon's friends and Martok started out as a bad guy. Also Gowron never really liked Worf but the Klingons and Federation were at peace for most of his rule
>>63834028
Oh, he fucked MANY MANY people, metaphorically. He was the ultimate manipulator, threw Worf under the bus despite his obvious benefit to the empire. Guy was a trueRomulan
>>63828025
I always liked Worf's interactions with the Klingon Council and big wigs. Worf grew up learning about Klingons from humans which makes him both the most Klingon and the least Klingon of his whole race.
He is the most Klingon because he took all their stories about honor and shit at face value. He took Klingon concepts, like honor, and tired to completely embody them without deviation.
He is the least Klingon because real Klingons know that no one follows all the honor shit 100% but at least must look honorable to others and at times have to just pay lip service to Klingon concepts.
Worf is like someone who read a book about dancing and mastered its instructions perfectly. When he finally gets the chance to show his moves he is the most technically correct but it is still awkward and stilted because he hasn't experienced how in practice the dance changes according to partners and is adapted by each individual to suit their style.
>>63835484
So basically, Worf is a Klingon Data?
>>63835371

>>63835484
*clap clap clap*
perfectly said. He is the outsider criticising and loving the culture. It also tries to balance the idea of what culture should be kept and what should be left behind. When he is with the Romulan-Klingon moon he teaches them hunting games, they aren't really about war as most klingons think. He is kinda a throw back in their culture, especially in Kalus episode. He reflects what they SHOULD be rather than what they are
BTW, did anything happen with Kalus clone after that episode?
>>63835484
This is exactly why Worf is the best character on TNG. I like the conflict stemming from someone dedicated to but ultimately alienated from his culture.
>>63835935
>He reflects what they SHOULD be rather than what they are
Yep. Its why at one point Worf calls pretty much every Klingon he sees "without honor." Its not that all Klingons are dicks, its that they are imperfect and in a society that demands they either all be perfect like Kahless or all bend the rules sometimes.
>>63835484
I like you, Anon. We should have a barrel of blood wine.
>>63837118
It's basically native americans, where the media glories it, but in reality they fought and killed each other just as much as any war in europe and asia. They fought for territoriy and the like. Not saying that we didn't do permenant harm by killing all the buffaloand nativesbut klingons are a good example of our history
>>63837467
What do you think blood wine is made of?
I've made drinks from other shows like graf from the Dark Tower and I just finished Trek yesterday.
I'm thinking some kind of extremely stong mead with a red berries added.
>>63836338
>I like the conflict stemming from someone dedicated to but ultimately alienated from his culture.
Is that why we come here?
>>63838214
Bloodwine: blood and wine. Blood from some sort of animal, wine from some sort of bottle.
>>63838420
I come here because I like Star Trek, senpai
>>63838214
So are there like Klingon bloodwine vintners? Do they get a place in sto vo kor as honorable winemakers?
>>63838420
I come for the Star Trek, actually.
>>63838505
They have vintages so I guess so.
>>63838837
Klingons had some great tech like cloaking. I get the feeling their scientists got something like kills and honor by proxy. Every time their disruptors killed someone they got .1 kills to their credit and every time their tech saved an honorable warriors life they get .2 honor points.
>>63839459
How would honor work for medics though?
Its pretty much said that klingons do not like getting old since it's a sign that you have not died in battle, and thus not fought enough.
So what about their doctors? The job of a doctor is to help his patients live longer and better lives. For klingons, that would mean depriving the patients of honourable deaths.
>>63838837
Whoever made this obviously hasn't seen TOS. Klingons aren't all barbarian jocks. Even if they are, its highly plausible they steal and emulate technology from civilizations they conquer. War has always advanced science and technology in some way. It's completely reasonable for them to focus on science for a war effort, there's nothing dishonorable about that.
>>63839459
They stole it from some other species.
They're space niggers.
>>63828025
threadly reminder
>>63839848
Why would you want to "keep true to Gene's vision" though?
It's completely outdated 60s optimism that only managed to keep some suspension of belief going because it never explained most practical points we would need to understand how society works in the 23rd and 24th century.
At this point, Star Trek owes more to Mike Piller and Ira Steven Behr.

One of the EU novels, I think it was Flag Full of Stars, had a nerdy Klingon scientist as a main character. It seemed to me that they considered science and medicine as necessary evils and that docs and geeks were tolerated but not venerated as warriors were. Been a while since I read it. Star Trek EU has some really fantastic Klingon stuff. The Final Reflection is fucking brilliant.
>>63841257
Enterprise had the Klingon lawyer who, because of his profession, was never taken as seriously as a warrior was.

Because Bill Whittle is based. The other two, though, were the epitome of "NERD!". He basically rapes the "bro" who was arguing for Picard. Basically, he tries propping Picard up by saying that Picard was a skilled diplotmat and made friends with the Cardassians (which led to several genocides), and that he bested a God-like Entity and praised Wesley Crusher for being a super genius. Bill Whittle countered with... well.. Wesley Fucking Crusher getting his position because of nepotism, and that Kirk managed to defeat a much stronger opponent using his brains instead of his brawn and was basically "Space MacGyver".
>Those people are precisely the type I try to avoid
>That lack of self-awareness.

I was in our ship's semi-fresh food mess hall here in the Delta Quadrant (the kitchen was converted from the Captain's private dining room), and I'm in line to order some Kazonian ham at the front. The cook asked me what kind, and I said "I have no fucking idea what different kinds of Kazonian ham there are, Talaxian" ENTIRELY too loudly and the woman behind me in line I hadn't noticed burst the hell up laughing.
I turn around. Captain Janeway.
She kinda half leans around me and says "Ocampan honey glazed!" to the freak behind the counter and I just kinda stare at her for a second then smile and say thanks. I'm about to replicate something else instead but she says "No way, this one's out of my rations" and authorizes the resource allocation for it right there. I was astounded, it was so awesome that I did the only thing I could think of... I tensed up like an academy cadet and saluted. Once again she cracks out in mad laugher and asked me if I had any idea how long it had been since someone did that. I said "A dozen parsecs?" She said "Try ten thousand light years", with a devilish grin on her face.
We ended up having Vidiian torch in her personal quarters on deck 4. Turns out she'd apparently installed a Borg replicator, which let her replicate all kinds of shit that the ship's standard complement couldn't handle. We talked about everything that wasn't her career for about 47 minutes before I had to take off because my shift was about to start. I shook her hand and said she made my year today. She smiled and beat my head in with a hyperspanner. I looked up from the floor, my eyes covered in blood as I made out a blurry image of a freshly-replicated torpedo being hoisted above my head. Through the ringing in my ears I can't recall the probably inspiring parting line about duty and service before the casing came crashing down, ending my voyage.

TNG Klingons have a more fleshed out culture, but are more "can do no wrong" and "thier cultuire is fine guise who carese loljk Worf does honor and stuff such funny".
TOS Klingons are realpolitik but are shallow and kind of just generic villains.
DS9 Klingons are straight up the best, hands down.

unabashed Voyager fan, reporting in. I've never understood the hate for the series.

Kira can still rock the semi-short cuts, though I agree her usual one is disappointing
>>63860286
Pointing out that Voyager had low ratings isn't hatred for the series. It's just pointing out that Voyager had low ratings.
The post before that one would be a good example of hate, to be honest.

what half human ?
>>63860286
People hate it for the same reason many of us love it.
It was very comfy, and you always knew what you were going to get. The characters were all people who you could sit down over a bowl of Neelix Ale with
Of course the premise was survival in a hostile and uncharted region of space, so lots of people consider the comfiness a failure. The show did not follow through on an excellent premise.
Some people will go further and claim stuff like Janeway is evil or the EMH sucks, but that's all pleb bait

You don't remember when K'Ehleyr's force ghost killed Gowron?
>>63860286
Quit being a baby. Copypasta doesn't mean anything.
I saw The Emissary in a replimat in Kendra Province yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in corporeal form, but I didn’t want to be a waste extractor and bother him and ask him for holographs or anything.
He said, “You're doing now, like oh?” and added "It's not linear."
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh, my child? huh, my child? huh, my child?” and swinging an imaginary baseball bat in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw his grace trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen spiced hasperats in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Your holiness, Bajor is outside of Federation space, so all items must be purchased with gold-pressed latinum” At first he kept pretending to be having a vision and not hearing her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the hasperats and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any tachyon infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each hasperat and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by laughing really loudly.

No, the crews don't bother because humanity has evolved beyond the fear of death in Gene's optimistic utopian vision.

...isn't there a voyager episode with him raking sand?
You know, I'm not into old women, but for some reason so many of them are top tier in TNG.
I like to imagine they had a guy in casting whose sole role was to look around for milf to cast in the serie
