Even from the name the force awakens you can tell that this movie is going to be cringey. That should have been our first hint. The force doesn't awaken it has been around for a long time and we all know this. Avatar refers to a new technology which is an interesting concept.

Besides this notion of having a wireless link to somebody the idea of it being it space in itself makes it look original. Force awakens is the same in both (1) setting and (2) aesthetics. Even the prequels had a different setting and aesthetics which is why they are mentioned as more original.

It's telling that as unoriginal as Avatar's story is, the movie overall, mostly visually, is still far more innovative than any Star Wars movie will be.
