they were never good, but this movie was totted as being the defacto star wars of yesteryear and instead of awesomeness we got a rehash and one that was poorly done. this movie wanted to be a new hope but wasn't. it's not as bad as episode 1 and 2 and for the most part 3 of the prequels, but it's not that much better either.

What the fuck? All Lucas cares about is how to make as much merch material as possible. The prequels are nothing but merch exploitation with Jar Jar, jedi, sith, clones, podracing, etc.. Most big Star Wars fans and kids clapped for Episode 1 and saw it multiple times. A vocal minority hated it.
