as an occasional moviegoer in kansas I never buy the outrageously priced concessions and occasionally sneak in a bottle of water, but on this go I didn't want my bodily functions interrupting what could potentially be a very great experience.
Went to a 2 AM show, about 1/5th of the theater was full, maybe less. No one interrupted the movie. Everyone was respectful. I had a great time.

I'm european, and saw the movie in a European cinema. The audience clapped and cheered 10 times throughout, yelled and whooed during the whole thing. It's not a thing from America.
It stems from the advent of social media. People would rather cheer and show appreciation to the film publicly to everyone else in the audience, rather than soak it in and love it yourself.
