All that exposition, fucking up the realization of Han being Ben's father, failure to properly implement R2D2, annoying references to the OT, cringe-worthy 'girl power' pandering to people who don't and never will like Star Wars. Andy Serkis claiming you could never have done Snoke with practical effects, turns out to be complete bullshit and he was lazily designed. All the practical puppets and costumes were so coated in CGI they might as well shot the entire thing against green and blue screen again. The OT was great for its time and good for the decades after. The PT was never good. And by today Ep V is the the only original SW movie that still holds up as a film among all the other films that exist by now. Ep VII is a great movie for today, better than most films released in recent years and clearly better than all other SW movies except maybe V by todays standards of technology and story-telling.

Pretty much how I feel also, except I'd be a bit bolder and claim TFA is better than ROTJ. Both recycle plot elements previously, ROTJ is half a great movie and half prequel tier stuff. The Jabba palace scenes are good. Everything on Yavin's moon with the Ewoks is prequel tier, while the battle in space and the throne room scenes with Sheev/Vader/Luke are some of, if not the outright best scenes in the entire franchise.
Meanwhile TFA is heavily derivative but has a fantastic new villain, great new characters with similarly great on-screen chemistry that stand on their own without the original cast, and fantastic direction, visual aesthetics, cinematography, etc.
Right now I'm still on a high from seeing the film at midnight and all the hype so I think I prefer TFA, but in a year or two I might come back to preferring ROTJ.
I think I can split the Star Wars films into tiers though

It's actually pretty difficult to place TFA. It's a well-made movie, but it's also effectively just ANH for a new audience, to the point where it's annoyingly derivative. V - Overall perfect. I can`t remeber a single thing wrong with this movie.
III - It`s a very solid movie. But still it has the same problems that the first two prequels have, just in smaller dosage.

IV/V - 8/10. Both great, especially IV in terms of world-building surrounding a nice story and then V in building upon that. Both fall short of excellence by not having any overly complex thematic elements.
VI - 7/10. Same as above, and I don't even hate the Ewoks, but the first fifteen minutes (everything up until Luke arrives at the palace) are so unbelievably boring I need to take another point.
VII - 6/10. Better than your average movie, one big homage to the original made well but lacking any sort of vision.
III - 5/10. A definitively average movie.
